Vancouver Yoga Center Newsletter

SW Washington's Premier Yoga Center & School
Vancouver Yoga Center

Greetings!

Welcome to the first email newsletter for the Center. Its just taken me over 10 years to get with the modern internet program. :) I'm excited to be able to stay in better contact with all of my students and dear ones that have passed through the doors of the studio. We have been overdo for a newsletter. In the past we have included fun information like book reviews and recipes, as well as upcoming events at the studio. Our past printed newsletters where a hit and we are looking to re-create that online. As spring is the time for growth and transformation, we too are experiencing this at the studio. Stay tuned for more exciting additions to the studio this summer and fall.

I have two new people I want to introduce you to that I have added to the team at the Center this spring. Dr. Zorn who is a friend, colleague and amazing speaker of the heart, who is coming in to offer medition and lectures in Philosophy. He is dear and I hope you will be able to make time to experience his talks. Second is Sheila Lacey. Sheila is a Anusara trained teacher that has joined the teaching staff. Sheila brings to her classes a deep interest in the philosophical side to yoga balanced with an attitude of play in her classes. Drop-in and say hi on Thursday nights to Sheila.

As for me I am working on many things. Including a second level Teacher Training that will focus on Yoga As Therapy. Plus a upcoming book detailing my work and research on this topic over the last 12 years. Look for more information about that coming this Fall.

Until then I look forward to continuing to learn and grow along your side.

Be well and keep shining your light,

Backbends & Upper Back Openers - Intensive Workshop with Melonie

Backbends Workshop | Saturday, April 16th, 2-5PM

Backbends require courage and trust in our own divine nature and power. They are more effective for releasing held emotions than any other class of asana! They empower, strengthen, alleviate dullness of mind or heaviness of heart, and release happiness and joy.

Physically, they create tremendous flexibility, suppleness, and elasticity, which in turn encourages youthfulness and lightness. Backbends are unsurpassed in building exceptional stability and extraordinary flexibility.

Join us for this 3-hour session, led by Melonie Nielsen, on Saturday, April 16th from 2-5pm. The session's cost is only $45. Email Melonie for more information about the workshop. It will fill up, so register soon!

Lecture Series with Dr. Matt Zorn

Lecture Series with Dr. Matt ZornTopic :The Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad Gita is a timeless tale of the journey of the Human Soul. Taking place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, Arjuna has an intimate conversation with Lord Krishna about the trials he (Arjuna) faces. The story is an allegory for the unfolding of all Souls as we work our way back Home. Matt will explain different  aspects of the Gita and their relevance and importance to current day life.

Join us Sunday, April 17th, 10-12PM. Lecture cost is $25.

 Topic: Mediation

Meditation is where the rubber meets the road. It is the practice of drinking from the well itself...tasting the fruit that one has heard so much about.

Meditation goes beyond the books, theory, teachers, and seminars. It allows for the direct experience of everything one has heard and read so much about. Reading about spirituality is like looking at a map and meditation is being THERE in person and having the experience.

Join us Sunday, May 22nd 10-12PM for the Meditation lecture. Cost is $25.

Topic: Power of Intention

Join us Sunday, June 26th, 10-12PM.Lecture cost is $25.

Current Term Ends April 23rd

Please note: The studio will be closed for spring break April 24th-May 1st.
