Let Summer Sizzle

Not Your Skin.

Dear Skin of Steel Supporter,

Skin of Steel volunteers continue to build awareness of the importance of skin safety throughout Glenview this summer.  Most recently, the Skin of Steel tent and  volunteers made their first appearance at the Glenview Summer Festival on Saturday, June 25.

Skin owners of all ages stopped by to reapply sun screen, add to our growing chain of skin safe pledges, pick up their very own UV sensative bracelet, and generally be reminded how important good skin safety habits are.

Thank you to our volunteers and all our visitors.  Our next tent sighting will be this Saturday, July 23, at the Glenview Famer's Market - stop by and see us!

In the meantime don't forget to live sun smart and skin safe!

1. Minimize  sun exposure when the sun is highest in the sky (this is when the UV rays are the strongest);

2. Wear the best available UV protective clothing and accessories - don't forget your hat, sunglasses, and cover up;

3. Properly use the best available sun screen (at least an SPF of 30 with UVA/UVB protection and don't forget to reapply!);

4. Avoid artificial tanning beds and lamps;

5. Have regular skin checks!
