Sunny Side Up or Fried?

Wagner Farm Dairy Breakfast attendees are reminded what's good for your eggs isn't good for your skin.

Despite the prediction of rain, Skin of Steel volunteers were on hand for a remarkably sunny day at the annual Wagner Farm Dairy Breakfast.   Approximately 300 visitors stopped into the Skin of Steel tent to learn more about how to Live Sun Smart and Skin Safe.

UV Changing Bracelets: COOL!bracelet

Children who stopped into the tent could "earn" a complimentary Skin of Steel bracelet by participating in one of two activities.  These bracelets actually change from white to deep purple depending upon the amount of UV rays they are exposed to.  A fun reminder that when it's turning purple, it's time to be protected!

The visitor to the left rushes out to the sun to see their bracelet change color in the sun.

Creating a Chain of Safe Skin Promises

To earn a bracelet, over 100 kids signed a promise to protect their skin.  Each promise was linked to the next, creating a growing Glenview chain - stop by each event and see how it grows!

The visitors above wait in line to create their skin promise link.  Some promises made at Wagner Farm:

"waring hat" writes Riley

"always wearing sun screen" writes Maeve

"stuff" writes Kyle

"putting on sun block, wear glasses for my eyes, and wear a cap for my face" writes Andy

Even Super Heroes Need Sun Safety

Younger tent visitors enjoyed helping Spiderman get ready for the sun.  They were able to ready him with shirts, sunglasses, a hat and our very special Spidy brand of sun screen spray (water).
