Dear (Contact First Name),

 

We need your help to make skin safety a higher priority in Glenview.   No big commitments, just 2 or 3 hours helping to smile and raise awareness by handing out UV sensitive bracelets, guide kids activities, and set up/take down our tent and signage. 

 

No experience necessary.   Sign up for a shift or two, dates and hours are noted below.  You will be invited to attend an optional short training session the first of which will be held on June 14 at 10am.

 

June 18 @ Wagner Farm Dairy Breakfast 

Volunteer Hours: 7am - 2pm (2 shifts avail)  

 

June 25 @ Summer Festival downtown Glenview

Volunteer Hours: 7am - 5pm (3 shifts avail)

  

June 25 @ Gallery Park/ 3 v 3 Soccer Tournament

Volunteer Hours:  8am - 6pm (3 shifts - tentative)

 

July 23 @ Glenview Farmers Market

Volunteer Hours:  7am - 1pm (2 shifts avail)

 

July 30 @ Roosevelt Pool

Volunteer Hours:  9am - 4pm (3 shifts avail - tentative)

 

Aug 5 @ Flick Pool for Paint the Pool Pink

Volunteer Hours:  10:30am - 3:30pm  (2 shifts avail)

" Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) causes the 3 major forms of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma; squamous cell carcinoma; and cutaneous malignant melanoma.  Public awareness of the risk is not optimal, overall compliance with sun protection is inconsistent, and melanoma rates continue to rise. The risk of skin cancer increases when people overexpose themselves to sun and intentionally expose themselves to artificial sources of UVR."
