Chamber & Hall of Fame Awards

Together we've built the best

Understandably we were thrilled when Take A Hike was awarded the Business Excellence Award for medium sized firms (7-25 employees) at the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce's awards dinner held on May 6th at the Valhalla Inn.

But to have our store owner inducted into the Canadian Retail Hall of Fame has left us speechless. (The induction took place at the Retail Council of Canada's 2012 Excellence in Retailing Awards Gala held in Toronto on June 4th.)

These two amazing honours very much recognize the special relationship and collective effort, talent and commitment of Take A Hike employees, customers, suppliers and families. We should be very proud knowing that together we've built a world class company right here in Thunder Bay.  Bravo.

Join our "Fill Our Boots" Campaign

Helping those affected by the flood

Take A Hike staff and their families were fortunate not to have experienced serious damage as a result of last month's flood. Unfortunately the same can't be said for thousands of others in our community.

To help those most affected, we've initiated a "Fill Our Boots" campaign and invite you to join us as we attempt to fill a pair of rubber boots with donations to assist with relief efforts. Every dime counts.

Landale Gardens Adopts our Window Boxes
Bringing more of the best to Bay Street

Take A Hike's window boxes will be brimming with flowers, plants and greenery throughout the coming year, thanks to John Soychak and the staff of Landale Gardens.

Landale is another terrific independent business in Thunder Bay and one we're proud to partner with on this project.  In addition to top quality plants and products for all of your gardening and landscaping needs, they offer a custom potting service (you pick them and they'll plant them) and the largest selection of shade trees in town.

Make sure to visit Landale's garden centre located just off West Arthur Street (next to Time Horton's) and tell them, "Take A Hike sent you".

NEW Boreal Design Kayaks for Sale - Two Only
16' Muktuk & 17' Inukshuk

For many years Take A Hike was Thunder Bay's exclusive dealer of Boreal Design kayaks.

Imagining that one day we'd be needing a couple of boats, we put into storage two of our favourites: the Muktuk and the Inukshuk.  With a little sadness, we've decided to free them from their bubble wrap and find them good homes.

The Muktuk is a great kayak for a small to medium sized, beginner paddler, while the Inukshuk is perfect for a more adventurous, intermediate level paddler.

We invite serious inquiries only and with reduced prices we aren't offering demos. These are the same terms we offered during our final season and boats flew out the door!

Regular Price:  Muktuk $1,575    Inukshuk $1,775

Clearance Price:           $1,375                  $1,575

Starting June 20th, we'll also be clearing out all remaining 220 cm carbon fiber paddles, PFD's and Thule roof rack accessories.

Again, thank you for your support.

We appreciate your business & friendship.
