Behind the Scenes
by Tiffany Windsor
I recently traveled to Dallas to participate in the Michaels Leadership Conference. I'm so delighted to be able to share with you a behind-the-scenes peek.
First, the amazingly cool team at iLovetoCreate.com asked me to sketch out my vision for my display. The main guideline was that I had to recreate my sketch by crafting live at the event. I had to dream up a concept featuring Aleene's glues that I knew I could craft and complete during the span of the 2-1/2 days of the show.
The concept I decided on was "Home Sweet Home" which featured a sassy little writing desk topped with all sorts of crafty treasures. My sketch was then super-sized to fit the booth backdrop.
So, day one, I grabbed my supplies and my Aleene's glues and started my crafty adventure!
By the end of the day, I was well underway with my paper flower pencil holder, ribbon frame, yarn painted frame, fabric covered box and paper flowers embellished box. I loved my colors of ivory, guacamole, aqua and teal and all of these items were created using the new Aleene's Dry Adhesives.
On day two, I decorated another box, lampshade, photo album, made greeting cards and glued flat backed marbles onto a glass vase.
On day three, I grabbed a slice of bread, a tablespoon of Aleene's Tacky Glue, a little cornstarch and cold cream and mixed up a batch of vintage Momma Aleene's Bread Dough to craft bread dough roses. Always a crowd favorite, they were a fun accent for the vintage desk.
So, here it is at the end of the event. (Special thanks to EcoHeidi for crafting the no-sew slip cover for our $5 garage sale chair.) I had so much fun crafting and visiting with the Michaels store managers.
