Adoptive Parents Bill of Rights Draft

FSFAPA would like all foster and adoptive parents to review the draft of the Adoptive Parents Bill of Rights (attached here). Your feedback is important in order to ensure this document is as strong and complete as possible. In the coming months we will work to incorporate this into what we at FSFAPA stand for and we hope to have it written into legislation. Please provide feedback by Jan. 15, 2011.

Training Hours for Foster Parents
Foster parents are eligible to earn training hours for relicensing requirements by participating and interacting during live training webcasts or by viewing training videos posted in the Just in Time Training archives. Please view the instructions here to find out how.

Just In Time Training, Jan. 11, 2011

QPI "Just in Time Training" will offer foster parents and child welfare specialists another webcast training event on Jan. 11, 2011. This training will provide valuable insights into symptoms and behaviors associated with attachment issues, including issues after termination of parental rights. You will have opportunities to ask the expert questions, and he will provide strategies for working with children with these issues.

Please get your invitation here. There are instructions to verify you have the necessary software -- a free download -- prior to the webcast. Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email and the link for the event. If you have registered and participate, you will receive a training certificate via e-mail after the event.

If you are unable to attend, the webcast will be available at www.qpiflorida.com usually three to five days after the event. In order to receive the training certificate if you view it from the website, you will be required to pass a short quiz to verify you have watched the webcast.
