Mobilizing Resources
A Unified Business Approach to Corporate Community Involvement

Today's rapidly changing landscape of corporate citizenship is forcing companies large and small to grapple with questions such as:

What does the changing face of corporate citizenship mean for corporate philanthropy, corporate foundations, volunteerism, and community relations? What role do Corporate Community Involvement programs play in the larger context of corporate citizenship, and how can they best meet the evolving needs of a company and society? How can programs best be designed so that they are effective and efficient?

Through more than 30 years of working with leading companies, TCC Group has developed a six-step roadmap to help build an integrated corporate citizenship approach. Our newest briefing paper, Mobilizing Resources, by Vice President Thomas Knowlton helps companies create a portfolio of programs that:
  • aligns with the company's corporate citizenship programs
  • assists with or leads the development of the company's corporate citizenship reputation with multiple stakeholder groups
  • mobilizes resources to ensure greater social and business impact.
In a shifting economy, TCC can help companies align corporate citizenship and business goals as well as leverage existing resources to build strong communications with internal and external stakeholders.

The Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT)

CCAT Now Offers Dynamic Benchmarking
What can you learn from your peers?

Ever wonder how your organization stacks up to others in the field? Whether your organization is large or small, serves urban or rural communities, is a start-up or celebrating its 100th anniversary, it can be helpful to assess your progress with the knowledge of how other organizations are performing.

TCC Group's Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT), an online survey that measures nonprofit effectiveness, now brings real-time benchmarking capabilities that can enhance an organization's understanding of its strengths and weaknesses, as well as inform strategic planning efforts.  Nonprofits can confidentially compare themselves to other nonprofits based on self-selected criteria such as budget, type of service, and delivery model (direct service, policy advocacy, etc.) Organizations choose the benchmarking criteria and can run as many comparisons as they like.

The national CCAT database consists of more than 2,000 nonprofit organizations that have taken the survey. These organizations represent the full spectrum of nonprofit sub-sectors and range from small, grassroots organizations to institutions with multi-million dollar budgets.

If your organization has already completed the CCAT, click here to begin the benchmarking process.

If your organization has not taken the CCAT, and if you would like to learn more, please click here.

Evaluation: An Essential Tool for Strategic Learning

When used well, evaluative data is a powerful tool for advancing grantmakers' and nonprofits' strategic learning. Evaluative data-whether in the form of a formal evaluation or grantee reports-can help grantmakers and their grantees explore the impact of their work and discover how to improve results. Evaluation is much more than an accountability tool; it is part of a continuous learning process that guides decision-making and planning.

Join TCC Group's Peter York and Jared Raynor and the Northern California Grantmakers to learn how to make evaluative data part of a strategic learning process that supports both funder and grantee performance, by using core principles and practices that apply to foundations of all sizes. In this interactive session, participants will have time to share some of their own best practices for leveraging evaluation for learning and will also leave with concrete ideas and techniques to use.
