The Increasing Importance of Employee Involvement
by Thomas Knowlton, Vice President
  Jared
As companies recognize the value of employee involvement programs, and statistics show an increasing shift toward non-cash contributions, employee volunteerism has become the fastest growing corporate citizenship program in the country. With the increasing demand from new employees (nearly two-thirds of Gen Y prefer to work for an organization that provides opportunities to volunteer their skills), TCC is helping companies of all sizes and in every industry to develop a range of programs to engage their employees in giving back to society.

What's Next for Strategic Planning?
Jared
Some nonprofit leaders argue that strategic planning is on its last legs. However, in the latest issue of the Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal, TCC Group Vice President Shelly Kessler says planning is far from obsolete. A strong argument can be made for nonprofits committing to real strategic assessment of their opportunities based on the best available evidence, and making decisions accordingly. These organizations are much more likely to keep going during difficult times and, moreover, have the tools to take their efforts to scale.

Free Webinar - Effective Family Foundations
June 2, 2010
1 - 2pm Eastern

Developing and actively using a grantmaking Jaredstrategy helps foundations have greater impact, enabling them to channel their resources to better address social problems.  Yet many family foundations lack a cohesive strategy, instead basing their philanthropy on the individual interests of trustees.  All too often this results in scattershot grantmaking and a divisive experience for foundation leaders.  Many families have learned that strategic giving not only increases their effectiveness as philanthropists, but also provides a more engaging experience for the board.

TCC Senior Consultant and family foundation trustee Ashley Blanchard will examine how and why family foundations can become more focused in their grantmaking.  Emily Tow Jackson will discuss the influence strategic giving has had on her board and the Tow Foundation's overall impact.

This webinar is designed for both foundation staff and trustees interested in moving to the next level of strategic philanthropy.  Participants will gain a clear understanding of the benefits and challenges of strategic family philanthropy and the tools needed to help their foundations through the transition.
