CBAA Basketball Update
The CBAA Basketball Board would like to thank all players, coaches and families for their support during the 2011/12 basketball season. Due to an unplanned gym closing we were faced with many challenges, including the cancellation of practices and last minute game time changes. We really appreciate your understanding.
It's now time for the boys and girls to pick up their lacrosse sticks, baseball gloves and bats. However, basketball is a sport where muscle memory rules and where players can always sharpen their skills.
As a service to our players and families you can refer to our web site to help you locate the dates for local basketball camps run by the boys and girls coaches at CB East and CB West. In addition we are happy to announce that Deb Black, and her sister Barb Black Poli, will once again host camps at our CBAA Outdoor Courts. Session one will run from June 25-29 for girls only. Session two, for both girls and boys will be held from August 13-17.
Registration is also now open for our 2012 CBAA Outdoor Summer League. Coaches can enter full teams in either an intramural or travel division. Individual players can also register and they will be placed on a team.
On June 9, 2012, there is a 3 on 3 tournament benefiting Tabor Children's Services, a Doylestown charity that supports abused and neglected children. All teams signed up by the end of April will received a $5 per player discount. Please refer to our web site for information for more information or to register for our summer league, summer camps and the 3 on 3 tournament.

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association
Youth Players 6-12 years
On April 23 at 7:00 PM Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer will present a unique and much needed presentation to parents, club administrators and club coaches regarding moving forward with training youth players in the Zone One Age Group (ages six to 12).
West Chester United, West Mont United, Rage Soccer Club, Spirit United, Nether Soccer, Penn Legacy and Yardley Makefield Soccer decided to act upon US Soccer's goal of developing players and to under-emphasize the need for extra games, tournaments, cost, excessive travel and formed the Director's Developmental Program.
This program presents a perspective that falls in place with most major soccer playing countries throughout the world and includes:
1)Top level training from U8 through U 10 from the best coaches within the club. 2)Few or no cuts for children within those ages. No designation of A, B or C teams even when training. 3)No league play or playing for championships 4)Cooperative play within clubs featuring small sided games from 4v4 to 8v8. 5)Mixing of players within clubs when coming together for play days. 6)A clear directive to parents regarding goals and expectations. 7)All travel between matches is less than a one hour drive. 8)A concise curriculum for children and coaches. 9)No involvement with state cups at U9 or U10.
Directors of Coaching for all the Director's Developmental Clubs will be available to answer questions from the audience after their presentation. The soccer landscape is changing dramatically and these clubs seem to have a direction that other clubs may want to imitate or borrow. The presentation will take place at our offices or at the Double Tree Suites in Plymouth Meeting depending on the number of people wishing to attend. Please fill out the form by clicking here to pre-registerfor this free event.
Thank you,
Mike Barr Director of Coaching, EPYSA |
