Dear CBAA Families and Friends,
Happy New Year and Welcome to Winter!
For some of our families, it's a time of respite. For others, they will turn to the indoor activity and others head to the mountains! CBAA Basketball has started for the Travel players, Intramural play tips off this weekend. Lacrosse & Soccer players have turned to the indoors to prepare for the Spring Season ahead or just to gather for a fun indoor league.
As we leap forward into the New Year, we welcome back our Board Members: Chair, Dale Herbst; Vice Chair, Robert Law; Treasurer, Doris Dowdy; Corresponding Secretary, Becky Barlow; Recording Secretary, Ed Beedle; Program Presidents- Manny Garcia, Basketball; Anthony Ventresca, Lacrosse. New to our board, Hung Do, we welcome as the Interim Program President of Travel Soccer.
We extend our gratitude to Bill Griffith and Greg Smyth for their time they served on our board as Soccer Program Presidents. Their time, dedication, support and volunteerism with CBAA did not go unnoticed. Our programs benefited greatly by their leadership along with the many volunteers it takes to continue the success and popularity of the soccer programs.
A HUGE thank you to all of our volunteers at CBAA! You make our programs beam with success! We are grateful to all of you! Thanks for making a difference in a child's life at CBAA!
We hope you enjoy this newsletter and the this Winter season ahead! If you are interested, our CBAA Board meetings are open to the public. We always have room for new volunteers and input!

IM Soccer boasts close to 1,400 young soccer players. Young players of all ages are out on the fields at practices and games having fun and enjoying 'The beautiful game'.
Neil has developed a 'stepping stone' program of development for the Junior Division (younger ages) based on small sided games as follows:
- u5 - parent-child program (3 v 3)
- u6 - coach based program (3 v 3)
- u7 - 4 v 4
- u8 - 5 v 5
- u10 - 7 v 7
These are the crucial and formative years. The main aim is that all the kids have fun. Two strong long term objectives are:
- Develop more skilled players in the small sided game 'environment' leading to more effective players by the time they progress to the full 11 v 11 game.
- Instill a love of the game and educate players that soccer is a 'game for life'
A REMINDER from our Director of Coaching, Neil Smart:

To register as a player or volunteer for the program, please go to The TOPSoccer Website.
The CBAA TOPSoccer program is offered to children ages from 5 to 14. The program adjusts to the needs of each individual and allows each child to gain experience in a team sport in a non-competitive environment.
If you believe your child would have an interest in this program, or if you would like to volunteer to help us with this program, please think about registering.
Our program uses a buddy system for each participant. Interested volunteers over the age of 14, please contact us!

Basketball
The CBAA B-Ball 2012 Intramural Season Tips Off this Weekend, January 6, 7 and 8. The CBAA Basketball Board encourages all family members to attend games and cheer on their players while also demonstrating good sportsmanship and encouraging all players on the court. We also ask that all in attendance respect and encourage all of our referees. In our 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th and 5th-6th grade leagues our referees are young CBAA alumni and current players who continue to be involved with our program while expanding their knowledge of the game. We wish all of our coaches and players' good luck, a safe season and that everyone remember that it's all about the players. The focus should be on learning the sport, team work and fun. Please note that all Central Buck School District Gyms are equipped with AED's (defibrillators) in case of an emergency. The locations at each school are on the CBAA website. We encourage our coaches and parents to know where they are located as it can save a life. We hope that no one ever has to use them. Ice Packs and First Aid Kits are also available at all of our games near the scorers table or lockers.
Thank you,
The CBAA Basketball Board

As an organization that is run entirely by volunteers who are predominantly parents of youth participants, we need to continue to recruit new coaches and staff. We are actively seeking out volunteers to coach at all levels. We have always had great coaches and that is in part due to the training programs we make available to our volunteers through US Lacrosse certification.
We are looking for volunteers to fill the following positions for 2012:
Coaches at all levelsTournament Director and staff
Fundraising Director
Field and Equipment Manager
1st and 2nd grade boys program Director
