Dear Members and Friends of CBAA,
We are pleased to announce our Soccer Steering Committee. This committee is comprised of dedicated individuals who CBAA recognizes as distinguished members and friends of our organization. Thank you to all of our members for your continued support of our youth in our community.
The process of selecting a Soccer Program President will begin in the next weeks ahead. We will be posting information on our process to apply, which will include the qualifications and committment needed to fufill this position.
Below, you will find the Steering Committee Resolution set forth by the CBAA Board.

The CBAA Board resolves In accordance with Article VIII, Section 5 of the CBAA By-Laws, that the CBAA Board will form a Soccer Steering Committee to oversee and advise the reintegration of Buckingham United Soccer Club (BUSC) and CBAA Intramural Soccer (IM) into CBAA Soccer. The duties and responsibilities of the Steering Committee will include:
- Assist the CBAA Board in the development of a leadership structure for the combined CBAA Soccer Program including duties and responsibilities. Initially, identify the roles and responsibilities for the CBAA Soccer leadership team (i.e., Soccer President and Director of Operations).
- Review and identify a recommended list of CBAA Soccer leadership team candidates from CBAA members (i.e., Article IV, Section 1.A) for consideration and appointment by the CBAA Executive Board.
- Provide advice and counsel to the CBAA Soccer Program leadership team in the development of General Operating Procedures (Article XI) that detail the routine management of the CBAA Soccer Program. A draft of the General Operating Procedures should be provided to the CBAA Board in March 2012 for review to determine consistency with the CBAA By-Laws
- Periodically (quarterly and other times as needed) provide a written and/or verbal report on the progress of CBAA Soccer to the CBAA Board identifying any issues that require the attention of the Board.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CBAA Board.
The Steering Committee will consist of the following members: Ms. Bonnie Gepner (past CBAA Board Secretary), The Honorable Maggie Snow (past CBAA IM President), Mr. Manny Garcia (CBAA Basketball President), and Mr. Matt McGahran (Top Soccer Director, Past CBAA Board Member, BUSC President). The Soccer Steering Committee shall be the responsibility of the CBAA Chair. The Soccer Steering Committee shall be reviewed and reappointed annually during December.

CBAA Soccer Reintegration
CBAA Intramural Soccer (IM) & Buckingham United Soccer Club (BUSC)
The CBAA Executive Board has begun the process of re-integrating the administration and operations of our intramural & travel soccer programs; CBAA Intramural Soccer and Buckingham United Soccer Club. The reintegration of the program into one management structure is consistent with the CBAA By-Laws. We believe that combining the organizations will provide a platform for the CBAA Soccer Program to grow, in terms of youth participation, volunteerism and the overall quality of the experience that our member families and players have.
A single organization is the model used by CBAA's two other sports programs. CBAA Basketball includes both intramural and travel and is managed by a single management team. CBAA Lightning Lacrosse which includes both boys and girls programs is operated by a single management team.
We have created an independent Soccer Steering Committee composed of experienced former and current CBAA Board members that will advise and oversee the new administration of the CBAA Soccer program. We will also rely on our two, well respected and admired Directors of Coaching. We will announce the membership of the Soccer Steering Committee, but CBAA families will recognize the committee members who have committed countless hours supporting CBAA. There are many aspects of the administration of both BUSC and IM which will be supported by the Soccer Steering Committee as the merger proceeds.
