Dear CBAA Families,

We hope that you and your family had a terrific summer and a great start to your school year.  We would also like to sincerely thank our members for being so patient and understanding during this tumultuous start of the fall season here at CBAA in regards to the record rainfall that we have experienced.  Everyone seems to be making the best of this crazy weather we are experiencing.

The Summer Basketball league had a great season at Herbst and continues to grow in popularity.  This was our second season under the lights for evening games, which the kids love!  As the Fall sports of LAX & Soccer continue on, Our Winter Basketball & Spring Lacrosse programs have opened registration.

The CBAA Lighting Committee continues to work on our Lighting Project at Herbst Sports Complex.  We should have an update in the next month.  We have also developed and implemented a field maintenance plan to improve our fields for the upcoming seasons.

We hope you enjoy this newsletter and the this Fall season ahead!   If you are interested, our CBAA Board meetings are open to the public. We always have room for new volunteers and input!

2011 Fall IM (Rec) Soccer

September Showers can equal Super Soccer Powers!  Excitement couldn't be stopped for the Intramural Soccer program even when the rains caused delays and cancellations.

IM Soccer boasts close to 1,400 young soccer players. Young players of all ages are out on the fields at practices and games having fun and enjoying 'The beautiful game'. CBAA IM program director Neil Smart would like to thank the 'army' of parent coaches who attend the clinics and coaches games (the latter now an official IM tradition!) for their time and energy in helping make the season a great one for all the players.

Neil has developed a 'stepping stone' program of development for the Junior Division (younger ages) based on small sided games as follows:

  • u5 - parent-child program (3 v 3)
  • u6 - coach based program (3 v 3)
  • u7 - 4 v 4
  • u8 - 5 v 5
  • u10 - 7 v 7

These are the crucial and formative years. The main aim is that all the kids have fun. Two strong long term objectives are:

  • Develop more skilled players in the small sided game 'environment' leading to more effective players by the time they progress to the full 11 v 11 game.
  • Instill a love of the game and educate players that soccer is a 'game for life'

Clinics for the Senior Division (u12, u15 & u19) may be team based or themed including goalkeeper and striker-keeper sessions.

Lightning Lacrosse

CBAA Lightning Lacrosse Fall Update

CBAA - 2011 South Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse (SEPYLA) Champions!

Our Sunday's-only fall program is now underway, late registrations welcome - visit our website or contact us for details.

IMPORTANT!: We are moving our spring (2012) registration and Boys 5th-8th grade tryouts up to the fall (2011) this year so that teams can form prior to winter leagues and we can hopefully avoid the weather issues we've had with tryouts in the prior years.

Registration for CBAA Spring 2012 Lightning Lacrosse opened on Friday, September 23rd.  Visit their  homepage at
www.cblightninglacrosse.com  for more details.

As an organization that is run entirely by volunteers who are predominantly parents of youth participants, we need to continue to recruit new coaches and staff.  We are actively seeking out volunteers to coach at all levels.  We have always had great coaches and that is in part due to the training programs we make available to our volunteers through US Lacrosse certification.

We are looking for volunteers to fill the following positions for 2012:

Coaches at all levels
Tournament Director and staff
Fundraising Director
Field and Equipment Manager
1st and 2nd grade boys program Director

If you are registering your child for spring lacrosse and wish to fill one of these positions, please indicate that in the special requests field of the registration form.

If you have any questions about volunteering or what duties these positions include, please contact Anthony Ventresca at:
cbaalightninglax@gmail.com

Thank you!

TOPSoccer
TopSoccer
The CBAA TOPSoccer program is open to elementary  school age children with physical or mental disabilities.

TOPSoccer, or The Outreach Program for Soccer, is a nationally run organization under the U.S. Youth Soccer organization right here at CBAA! It helps get soccer programs, targeting special needs children, started in communities.  This program adjusts to the needs of each individual and allows each child to gain experience in a team sport in a non-competitive environment.

The CBAA TOPSoccer program will be is offered to children ages from 5 to 14. The program, started in 2009 and consists of six-eight, one-hour.

If you believe your child would have an interest in this program, or if you would like to volunteer to help us with this program, please think about registering.

Our program uses a buddy system for each particpant.  Interested volunteers over the age of 14, please contact us!

CBAA B-Ball Will Be Ready To "Tip Off" soon

The on line registration for travel and intramural basketball is still open until October 31st.  A one day live registration will take place Saturday, October 1, 9:00-12:00 in the Lahaska Room of the Buckingham Township Building.  Late registration will run November 1-15.

During our late registration period players will be placed on teams based on league availability. CBAA Basketball had 150 teams and 1500 children in our league in 2011. Due to gym space we are limited in the number of teams and players that we can accommodate. CBAA Basketball takes great pride in having accommodated all interested players in the past and we hope to do so again.

  • Registration Fees for the 2011/12 season are the same as last year or $170 for one player, $270 for two and $300 for 3 or more players. Our gym fees have been increased by $5 a day and $5 an hour on the weekend. However due to our members support of numerous fund raisers, such as our spirit wear and team sponsorships we are able to keep registration fees the same as last season.
  •  Open Gym and Travel Try Out Dates will be posted later this month. Please check back soon. Travel Teams will be sponsored for Boys in Grades 3 through 8 and Girls in Grades 4 through 8.
  •  Intramural Evaluation dates will be held in early November. Those dates will posted in September. CBAA leagues accommodate players in Grades 1-12, boys and girls. All leagues are single gender and not co-ed.

If you have any questions related to travel please contact the appropriate grade/age coach. If you have any questions regarding our Intramural Program please contact the appropriate league director or board member.

Thank you.
