Greetings Buckingham United Families!

Here we are at the close of another great season at Buckingham United.  As we wrap up the 2010-2011 season we have a lot to reflect upon.  Our children have experienced great times, fostered meaningful friendships, faced some challenges, had to overcome some hurdles ... but above all, they worked very hard, learned a lot, practiced good teamwork and made us ALL very proud!

Hopefully this newsletter will have you thinking fondly of the 2010-2011 year and get you excited to embark upon the 2011-2012 season!

We look forward to working with all of you this coming season.  As always, be sure to check out our website at www.tcteams/busoccer for all of your BUSC information.

March into Cups 2011

This year, the 2011 March Into Cups Tournament was a tremendous success and served as a terrific showcase for the Buckingham United Soccer Club. We were extremely excited about the level of competition represented, and proud to be formally ranked with GotSoccer.com. In addition, our official partnership with Volvo Motor Company helped to make the March Into Cups tournament a highly recognizable event throughout the Northeastern United States, drawing over 200 teams from Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware.

The tournament committee, along with the Buckingham United Board of directors, worked diligently to provide a first-class tournament, and trust that all who participated had a highly enjoyable experience! Good sportsmanship and top-notch competition was a hallmark for the weekend.

Thank you for the combined effort of all involved who helped to make March Into Cups a terrific success. We are looking forward to another fantastic year in 2012!

Bryan Rosica

    K.A.N.G. Scholarship

The KANG Scholarship (Kids Aspiring to New Goals) is set up in memory of Cole T. Ballay.  Cole was an accomplished soccer player who grew up in the Buckingham area and played soccer for Germantown Academy.  Tragically Cole was killed in a car accident in his junior year of high school.  Cole's family and friends have established the KANG Scholarship to provide financial assistance toward advanced training camps or private lessons.  The scholarship is awarded to adolescents between the ages of 11 and 14 who are passionate about soccer who also exhibit the characteristics of perseverance, persistence, creativity and are highly motivated to go the extra mile.

Buckingham Unitied is very proud to announce that one of our own players is a recipeint of this scholarship!

Congratulations Amanda Craine ~ Amanda was one of many nominees from both the Buckingham and V/E Soccer clubs.  Amanda just completed her U14 year with the Buckingham Blue Lightning coached by Beverly Lutes who nominated her.  She will be continuing with the club next year with the Buckingham Strikers U16 team Coached by Dave Spencer.  Her persistence and hard work were integral in her winning this Scholarship.  She has truly shown a passion for the game of soccer.  Congratulations Amanda!

    U8 Academy

This past spring, BUSC and Total Soccer teamed up to create a U8 Academy style program offering progressive training to enhance the U8 players' technical ability and fully prepare them for the travel soccer program.  The primary purpose of the Academy was to accelerate the development of the young soccer players at the club. Players in the academy focused on the same core skills that are taught at the Total Soccer Academies, but within a team environment.

The program was a great success!  Enrollment was limited to 20 boys and 20 girls and it reached those numbers quickly.  The Academy was held twice a week during the week, allowing the participants to continue to play with their intramural teams.

Due to the success of the Academy, we are considering expanding the program and offering it throughout the year.  Watch for more information coming soon.

    LOOKING FORWARD!

As a Director of Coaching, Ryan will work with our coaches to guide the development, education and training of both BUSC players and our coaching staff.  An important part of Ryan's job will be to develop and implement age appropriate training curriculums for all BUSC teams and age groups.
