$50 for a Sponsorship
Several local businessmen and women have given towards our Matching Sponsorship Goal to make it more possible for individuals and families to sponsor campers and pray for them during the school year. Our heart is that each camper from this past summer has someone praying for them. Will you sponsor one or two campers this month?

Angel Tree Camps

November 1-3 we hosted a retreat for Angel Tree Camps, which was very successful. Our Angel Tree Camping Specialist, Jennifer Lowrey, as well as camp directors from Strong Tower Ranch, Sagrada Scholarship Bible Camp, and Lake View Camp attended and each were very blessed to be able to network with others that are reaching children of prisoners.

"My son had a blast at camp! Everything they did made him feel special. The fishing, archery, horseback riding and attention he received made him really happy. Following camp he had a better understanding that he wasn't the only one without a Dad. I think he appreciated me even more after camp. I feel he came home more confidant and sure of himself."

Greetings!

We are so grateful this Christmas season. First of all I want to say thank you to all of you who have been praying for or who have sponsored a camper this year.    Since our last email we received $5,000 for a matching sponsorship grant!!!

Now individuals and families can sponsor a camper from 2011 at $50 a camper. A total of 90 sponsors are still needed, will you be one? To sponsor a camper click here: Sponsor A Camper

Do you have someone that is hard to buy for on your Christmas list? You can also sponsor a child on a loved one's behalf for Christmas- we have a special Christmas card to go with your sponsor gift.

$10,000 worth of plantsWe were also recently blessed with the opportunity to be able to buy out the remaining lot of shrubs, trees and perennials from Lowes at %.5 of their original price. This was $10,000 worth of plants for just $50!! Our friends from Salem Avenue Baptist Church and my Dad and I, hauled over ten truck loads of plants to camp. This past weekend with the help of friends and family we built some flowerbeds and planted over 150 shrubs and trees, and lots of other perennials. The plants and shrubs are already making camp look better. Camp is going to look magnificent in the spring.

KaylaWe want to say a big thank you to God for our new secretary, Kayla Hull. Finding a secretary is not an easy task. Not only are we asking for a lot skill-wise, but we also needed someone who really feels called to the mission of Camp David.  Kayla is a God's answer to both of our prayers - not only is she wonderfully gifted in the office, but she feels called to the ministry because of her own experience as a child of a prisoner. Before she was adopted into a Christian family at age 6, her birth father was in and out of jail. We are so grateful to God for the way He meets the needs of His children.

Gabbi & Matt

As for secretary Gabbi, we will miss her and Matt. They have both been such a blessing to us and the camp. We praise God for providing a nice job for Matt in Joplin, Missouri where they will be moving the middle of this month.  Matt choose to serve on our team this past summer as our camp Program Director, instead of doing an Internship, a risky move as an Engineering student. This fall after camp he needed work and God blessed him with a part time job with a professor. Then late November, Matt received a job offer from Empire District Electric Company in Joplin, which will allow them to be fairly close to both of their parents. Isn't God good?

baby JesusBy far, the greatest gift we celebrate this Christmas, is God's bold move in risking everything in coming to earth as a baby to eventually die in our place so that we could live with him forever.

Thanks again to all of you who have made your own bold moves to reach children of prisoners with the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

Gratefully,
Ben Smith
