Senior Health Tip Prescription Medications
Have you ever gone to the pharmacy and paid for a prescription only to find out that the medicine doesn't work for you, or worse yet, that you have major adverse side effects? Prescription Medications and Senior Health go hand in hand. Whether the issue is money or
drug interaction, every senior citizen must be cautious when
taking new medication.
One money saving bit of advice: if your physician prescribes new medications for you,
always ask if he has any samples to give you. This way you can try out the new medicines to determine if you can safely take them without negative side effects. Pharmaceutical companies supply free samples to doctors
just for these purposes. You can even ask for samples for prescription renewals. Make sure you physician knows all of the
medication you are taking, including over the counter drugs and nutritional supplements in order to avoid possible drug
interactions.

The Power of Positive Thinking Positive thinking helps with stress management and can
even improve your health.
Researchers continue to explore the effects of positive thinking and
optimism on health. Health benefits that positive thinking may provide
include:
Increased life span
Lower rates of depression
Lower levels of distress
Greater resistance to the common cold
Better psychological and physical well-being
Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress
Quotes from a few great thinkers on the subject:
"There are only two ways to live your life. One as though
nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." -Albert Einstein
"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty." -Winston Churchill
"The world is a great mirror. It reflects back to you what you are. If
you are loving, if you are friendly, if you are helpful, the world will
prove loving and friendly and helpful to you. The world is what you
are." -Thomas Dreier
You can break the habit of thinking negatively and cultivate a positive outlook on life. All it takes is the intention and the practice!
