 H averhill's Brightside has scheduled a Bradford Rail Trail clean-up on Saturday, August 13th from 9-11AM. Meet at the Roma Restaurant parking lot on Middlesex Street. Stuart Weitzman at Mural Paint Event 8/18 |
Join the "shoe designer to the stars," Stuart Weitzman on Thursday, August 18 from 12-3 for the next "Community Paint Session" for the Essex Street Gateway Community Mural. Stuart is flying in from Spain (!) to be with us that day, because of his commitment to public art in his home town of Haverhill.
Artist James Shuster will be with us to lead this event--as well as the paint session at River Ruckus on August 20. Both community-paint sessions takes place at 90 Washington Street (former antique mart). Perfect for older children, teens and adults. |
| Fireworks at River Ruckus, August 20 |
 River Ruckus 2011 will feature a fireworks show over the river at 9 pm, right after the evening performance by the USAF Band of Liberty Jazz Band. Full schedule of Ruckus events (starting with the Car Parade at 11:30, then a full day of free entertainment & activities for all ages) is now available: Click Here New elements include pontoon boat rides, more kids activites in Columbus Park, chance to meet scientists studying Haverhill's sturgeon, outdoor artisan market, and special guest appearance by international crooner Brian Evans at 6 pm. |

| Mentoring Kudos & Calling New Mentors |
 Our first year of mentoring at Tilton School has received very positive responses. One mentor said: "I really enjoyed the time I spent with my mentee. His Mom told me on our last meeting that he was becoming more vocal and interactive....she was starting to see a change in his behavior." One of the youngsters commented that: "It's so great to have one person who is just paying attention to you and nobody else." A teacher observed that the students are getting real help: "They cannot wait for their mentoring days. It's great to see them so excited." Would you like to help a child in this special way? | Recycling Focus at Tilton School | |
Team Haverhill is working this year with Tilton School on recycling practices. Starting with paper, Team Haverhill will provide support for school staff, as well as motivation and training for students, to help them build good recycling habits, and to add more materials to their recycling repertoire over time.
