Painting Starts this Week--Join the Fun! |

Artists Meg Saligman and James Shuster will arrive in Haverhill early this week to launch the on-site painting phase of the Essex Gateway Mural. Many schools and organizations are sponsoring "community paint sessions" over the next two weeks (see article below) and the initial results of the work will be on display at a "Business After Hours" at the Tap on Wednesday, June 1, 5-7 pm. Info It's free but RSVP is required. Artist James Shuster will be on hand, along with community painters, to describe the process and answer questions about the project.

Over the next two weeks, there will be many opportunities for school students and the general public to participate in this phase of the mural painting. Work will continue through the summer, and additional painting opportunities will occur--including River Ruckus on August 20. Sesions open to the public will be held at the Cordovan Apartments, the Citizens Center, and the Universalist-Unitarian Church. Recycling Project Team Gets Set to Focus on Schools in the Fall |
Team Haverhill's Recycling Project Team is developing plans for outreach to schools this Fall. The next meeting will take place on Saturday, June 11, at the Haverhill Public Library (Milhendler Room), from 10-11:15 am. MA Senate to Debate Arts/Culture Funding |
Due to public support, the MA House restored $1 million to the Arts and Culture budget in the version it passed recently. This week, the Senate will take up the original version. This is an excellent time to let Senator Baddour know your thoughts on these budget decisions, and especially the Donoghue Amendment to restore funding.
