Youth Mentoring Appoints Director

Haverhill Youth Mentoring Network (HYMN) is deligted to announce the appointment of Nancy London to provide staff leadership to the program as it rolls out this Fall. Nancy has extensive experience with nonprofit organizations in many different roles, plus a great understanding of how cities work.

Working closely with Tilton Public School principal Mary Beth Maranto, Nancy will help the program get off to a great start in October. She will oversee the selection and training of volunteers, who will each be matched with one of twenty-five Fourth Gradeers. Mentors commit to at least one hour per week for at least one year, to provide each child with a helpful and reliable learning partner.  Full information about the program is available here: Info

In co-operation with key community partners--including the Public Schools, four youth-serving agencies in Haverhill, the United Way, and MassMentors--Team Haverhill has seeded HYMN in order to build long-term civic capacity in support of our city's young people. Prospective mentor applicants can contact Diane Franz and United Way: dfranz@supportunitedway.org, 617-624-8185.
