Team Haverhill Special Announcement

Celebrate Recycling Success--Join the Party on July 14, 6 pm, at "Lounge 59"

Please join Team Haverhill in celebrating a long-awaited milestone in the history of our city. On Wednesday evening, July 14th, at 6 pm, we'll honor all the community partners who helped accomplish this important change--and have some well-deserved fun with colleagues and friends! The location is Lounge 59 located at 59 Washington St. in downtown Haverhill. The owners of Lounge 59 have graciously offered to provide us with appertizers, and there will be a cash bar available to those in attendance. RSVP to team.haverhill@comcast.net

For two and a half years, Team Haverhill has pursued the goal of citywide single-stream recycling at curbside, working alongside a widening list of partners. This effort began at our first annual "Possible Dreams" community event held in January of 2008 at NECC Tech Center. The party on July 14 will celebrate everyone in our community who helped Haverhill reach this milestone, including Haverhill Environmental League; former and current City recycling committees; staff members from our state's Department of Environmental Protection; Haverhill's Brightside; city Recycling Coordinator Steve Clifford; Mayor Jim Fiorentini; Haverhill City Councilors; former Council President and mayoral candidate John Michitson; and--most important--over 1,200 Haverhill citizens who signed a petition urging expanded curbside recycling.  This was a collaborative effort that couldn't have happened without this intensive partnership!

So--please join in the celebration of this milestone in the City of Haverhill and help kick off the effort increase our recycling rate and recycling  revenue, decrease the City's trash disposal budget, and preserve our environment!  Please RSVP if you plan to attend so that Lounge 59 can be sure to have enough food to feed us all: team.haverhill@comcast.net.
