| Possible Dreams 2009 Sparked Farmers' Market Revitalization |
|
Last January at the Possible Dreams event, several Haverhill residents expressed a hope that our tiny Farmers' Market could be revitalized and expanded. In February, a project team formed and the rest is history! Each week from mid-summer through fall, about ten vendors offered farm fresh vegetables, fruit, eggs, herbs, goat cheese, and honey, plus locally made ice cream, baked goods, coffee and crafts. Music, craft demonstrations and children's activities made the Farmers' Market the place to be on Saturday morning!

| Recycling a Dream-in-Progress |
Two years ago at Possible Dreams, residents spoke up about expanding recycling. In February 2008, a project team formed and began in-depth research about recycling facts and options. When Haverhill paperboard closed in August 2008, the project team was ready with facts, proposals, and a collaborative spirit. The project team's efforts--in partnership with government and community leaders--set the stage for the single-stream recycling pilot approved by Mayor Fiorentini this year on city two routes. A permanent, city-wide program remains a "possible dream" for 2010.

| More about the Event |
Possible Dreams is an annual community event hosted by Team Haverhill. It starts at 7 pm and takes place at Northern Essex Community College Technology Center. Anyone with a stake in our city's life is invited--including residents, business people, elected officials, and organization leaders.
This upbeat evening is designed to build community relationships, elicit shared hopes, and generate energy for co-operative efforts in the coming year--like the ones described in the articles above. The event also includes a brief introduction to Team Haverhill.
We provide refreshments and use an innovative format called World Cafe to foster a relaxed, positive and creative environment. People often become involved in Team Haverhill after the Possible Dreams event, but it is primarly an evening for and about our city. No fundraising is involved.
