Early Morning bike ride atop the Lakewood-Wadsworth Light Rail Bridge, (looking east). Two items of Note: Someone forgot to put an access for pedestrians and cyclists to the trains. Peds/cyclists have to go back down from the top, go east two blocks to Teller St., go south to the 13th Ave south access road, then two blocks west on 13th Ave back to Wadsworth Blvd, go up the elevator or stairs and then enter the train. 2nd Item: Despite the celebration for the opening of the bike path on September 15th, the bike path only appears to be partially open. The path is blocked east of Harlan Street, and construction continues on the northeasterly side of Sheridan Blvd. that was used as the bike event path on September 15th.

Could Parking Lot Walkways Point the Way to Walkable Redevelopment?
By Kaid Benfield, Sep 27 2012 It seems such a modest concept, really, and one that should have been standard practice long ago: put articulated pedestrian walkways to and within large suburban parking lots. This can get shoppers, workers and visitors more safely to and from their cars, and also facilitate the occasional pedestrian walking through the cars to get to a supermarket or shop more conveniently.READ MORE...

Even the Smell of Cigarettes Changes How We Use Public Spaces
By Nate Berg, Sep 27 2012
"How many non-smokers do we have here tonight?" the late comedian Bill Hicks asks a crowd in a classic bit. The people roar. "Bunch of whining little maggots." The worst kind of non-smokers, he explains in the video below, are the ones that come up to smokers, coughing, to complain about how their cigarettes are poisoning the air.
