 MEN WHO CARE GLOBAL

Monday July 4, 2011

4pm-12am

Uptown Charlotte

Brought to you by:

Faith, Civic, Corporate, Sports and Public Sector Partners

Objective: A significant presence of black men in uptown Charlotte for the duration of July 4th activities to ensure a safe, family friendly day of holiday celebration.

Target: To implement a 3 tier engagement process that will serve as a model to eliminate occurrences of public unrest involving black youth at the uptown July 4 celebration events.

Event Overview: Recognizing that adult presence where young people congregate is a deterrent to disorderly behavior, Men Who Care will provide added adult presence during the July 4th celebration.

  • The Men Who Care network will serve as goodwill ambassadors with a focus reaching young black men during the July 4th celebration in uptown Charlotte.
  • Men Who Care is NOT an auxiliary security/enforcement presence.  Men Who Care support Chief Monroe and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and their efforts to ensure a safe July 4th celebration for all.
  • Men Who Care encourages all parents to be aware of the approved City of Charlotte curfew policy and to ensure that your young people are adhering to the policy.
