Our 12th Anniversary Dinner is fast-approaching - a highlight of our year dedicated to celebrating our collective accomplishments and to honoring specific individuals who have contributed significantly to our growth. Over the next few weeks we hope to whet your appetite with a taste of why our honorees are so deserving of recognition by our Yeshiva.
For the past several years, Dr. Jay and Melissa Keehn have continually demonstrated their passion for Torah education and their belief in our Yeshiva. Through assuming multiple positions of leadership at Torah Academy and in the greater Jewish community, they have dedicated themselves to a myriad of projects, spanning the practical and academic to the social and family-oriented. We are privileged to extend our gratitude publicly to them for the invaluable roles they play in our Torah Academy family.
We encourage you to support Torah Academy by placing a tribute in the ad journal. The Annual Dinner is Torah Academy's primary fundraising event and the journal is the key to the campaign's success. The deadline to place an ad is January 25th.
Please contact Rabbi Reuven Feinberg at rfeinberg@torahacademybr.org for more information on placing a tribute ad in the journal. |

Elementary Insights
Searching for connections and meaning throughout literature is an important stage of academic maturity. Our fourth and fifth graders are reading novels and exploring a deeper understanding of the way the author uses the language.

Halacha Corner
Q. Are you allowed to tell your pet to pick up a toy that's outside the Eruv and bring it to you on Shabbos? (Chana Gibber)
A. The Torah tells us that we are not allowed to do work on Shabbos ourselves nor can we have our servants or animals do work either! We say it in Kiddush:
"לֹא תַעֲשֶה כָל מְלָאכָה - אַתּה.....עַבְדְךָ.....וּבְהֶמְתּךָ"
Not letting your animal do a Melacha for you is called "Shvisas Behaima." So the answer is no, you may not ask or even allow your animal to carry outside an Eruv for you. [O"C 246,12 & 266,7]
Do YOU have a Halacha Question? Write it down on a piece of paper and hand it into Rabbi Baumann
