Torah Academy's 12th Annual Dinner is February 15th

We are pleased to announce that Torah Academy of Boca Raton's 12th Anniversary Dinner will take place on Tuesday, February 15th.

As we celebrate the 12th Anniversary of Torah Academy, it is especially fitting that we pay tribute to Dr. Jay and Melissa Keehn and Rabbi Ben and Rebecca Sugerman as our esteemed honorees. We are also honored to recognize as Grandparents of the Year, Meyer and Rachel Bluth, and Boruch and Sharon Fleischman. Our honorees share a deep commitment to Jewish education, Torah Academy, and the Jewish Community.

We invite you to support Torah Academy by placing a tribute in the ad journal. The Annual Dinner is Torah Academy's primary fundraising event and the journal is the key to the campaign's success.

For more information on placing a tribute ad in the journal, please contact Rabbi Reuven Feinberg at rfeinberg@torahacademybr.org.

Fedstock- Jewish Festival of the Federation of South Palm Beach County

Fedstock was truly a day to experience so much nachas from our school and student body.  TABR was well represented, as our parents volunteered to share our school's success. Morah Sarah Levitan created beautiful displays and we shared arts & crafts projects. The children from the community created beautiful Torah Academy Shema signs.

Thank you to the PTO presidents, Mrs. Rivka Lindenberg and Mrs. Tzippy Ringelheim for their involvement and special touches, as well as Mrs. Henna Englander for coordinating, and Morah Chaya Ephron for working with the children on their projects. We would also like to thank the following parent volunteers:

Mrs. Hannah Ariel, Mrs. Simona Blumstain, Mrs. Bracha Cheplowitz, Mrs. Freyda Cohen, Mrs. Rachel Ettedgui, Mrs. Chana Feinberg, Mrs. Aviva Gonsher, Rabbi and Mrs. Benjy Horowitz, Dr. and Mrs. Jay Keehn, Rabbi Jay Lyons, Mrs. Tzipporah Richmond, Rabbi Avi Wealcatch, and Mrs. Alli Zak

Ateres Zekainim at Congregation Anshei Emunah

The Ateres Zekainim program, which was held at Anshei Emunah Congregation, was a beautiful way of sharing the students' joy of singing. They also loved interacting with the community. "It was so special to see the students talking and sharing stories with the congregants," said Mrs. Engel.

Elementary Insights

We welcomed Mrs. Naomi Bluth this week as she shared all of the details of her career as a photographer and Mr. Michael Selig who shared information about being a Physical Therapist. The students are learning about the importance and value of how what they will learn today will impact their career choices in the future. During the coming weeks, several of the students' parents will be invited into the classroom to share the skills that are necessary in order to do their jobs successfully. The children have excitedly prepared questions to ask the parents.

Our fourth and fifth grade girls became artists, poets, writers, and reporters, as they recreated Bnei Yisrael crossing the Yarden. They included all of the details of the Parsha. "This was a culminating project and the students enjoyed it and were able to retell all of the important details," said Mrs. Meth.

"I created a 3-D wall of water which showed where and how it split," said Kayla Frohlich.

Early Childhood Encounters

Throughout EC-3, students are learning about how hard Bnei Yisrael worked in Mitzrayim by doing some work of their own. They washed aprons, cleaned up the classroom, and even built sculptures out of clay. Morah Revi brought in bricks to show the children how heavy they are.  "This is all a part of the learning experience and gaining a better understanding of Bnei Yisrael's life in Mitzrayim," said Morah Revi.

Halacha Corner

Q. If someone mumbles a Beracha - is it still good, or does he have to repeat it? (Anonymous Mumbler)

A. It depends on which words he actually said, and which words weren't said because of the mumbling.  Every Beracha needs "Shem & Malchus," which means  that every Beracha needs: 1) a name of Hashem and 2) to say that He is the King of the world, in order to be a good Beracha. So if "Baruch" or both names of Hashem or "Melech Haolom" weren't said - it's not a good Beracha and you must repeat it. But   if "Ata" or just one of Hashem's names weren't said then it's still good enough to be a   good Beracha once it was done. [O"C 214, 1]
