The Margo Allswang Memorial Lecture
Torah Academy of Boca Raton is proud to announce the second annual Margo Allswang Memorial Lecture on Sunday, November 7th, at the Boca Raton Synagogue, featuring noted speaker and author, Rabbi Mordechai Becher.
Margo was one of the true builders of the school, from the time the Allswangs moved to Boca in 1999, until her untimely passing. Building our community was always a priority to Margo Allswang. Her dedication and commitment to not just one institution, but to many, was a value she held true. "She always felt so strongly that her chesed and involvement should reach the entire communities' needs," said Elliot Allswang.
"As we embark on the second annual Margo Allswang Memorial Fund event we should continue Margo's dream of providing every Jewish child with outstanding Jewish education, both curricular and extra-curricular," added Elliot.
The Margo Allswang Memorial Fund provides additional educational, curricular and extra-curricular programs to the students of Torah Academy.
This year, in conjunction with the Boca Raton Synagogue, there will be a Shabbaton on November 5th culminating with the lecture on Sunday.
There has been a very strong response to the opportunity to join in this Fund. Torah Academy has set a goal of 100% participation from its families, in order to unify and join together in honoring Margo's memory in this most fitting manner.

Early Childhood Encounters

Mrs. Rabovsky's Kindergartners had a creative and artistic time making their doll shaped pillows. The pillows helped the students learn about Chesed and Bikor Cholim. The students stitched and decorated their dolls, which will be hand-delivered to a nursing home in the area. "It is a terrific project to teach about these important Mitzvos," said Morah Rabovsky.

Glida anyone ??? Pre-K is exploring the letter Gimel and has ridden on a Gamal and opened a Glida shop - all this week. Morah Guttman has been encouraging her students to find items at home that begin with the letter Gimel. The students are eager to find things and to talk about the letter and all of the things it represents.

Elementary Insights
Mrs. Feder's math lesson was colorful and descriptive, as she introduced addition and subtraction of decimals. "Using manipulatives and models helps make the math come alive, so that the students can actually see and feel the decimals. This method makes it real and not only numbers on a page," said Mrs. Feder.
Rabbi Yachnes had a very vocal review of the vowels with his first graders. "Each day the students verbally review their vowels as the lesson increases in difficulty. They motivate one another as they clearly articulate the vowels and the sounds of the letters," said Rabbi Yachnes. |
