Meet-the-Teacher Night with Dr. Diane Wander

Meet-the-Teacher Night was an opportunity for the parents to hear first-hand the academic curriculum that will take place in their children's classes. The evening was also a chance for Rabbi Baumann to share the newest innovations to the school's academic vision, including welcoming a presentation from Dr. Diane Wander, our General Studies Coordinator. Dr. Wander, who refers to herself as a "child advocate", shared her philosophy of education through a lens of care and a deeper understanding of the "one size does not fit all" mentality when it comes to our children and how they learn. "The warmth and care that the faculty and staff emphasize at Torah Academy makes it the perfect place to implement a Differentiated Instruction Curriculum," she added. |
PTO Family Fun Day at Pump it Up
Thank you to our PTO for hosting the Torah Academy Fun Day at Pump it Up. It was a huge success. Most of our families attended and the children were eager to meet new friends. ""Everybody loved that big slide and we all jumped and bounced," said Sammy Rabinowitz, fifth grader.
Mrs. Denise Herschberg and Mrs. Melissa Keehn co-chaired the event and made sure everyone had a great time. "The women were so organized and left nothing to chance," said Mrs.Tzippy Ringleheim, co-president of the PTO along with Mrs. Rivka Lindenberg. |

Early Childhood Encounters
As our Kindergarteners grow as children and students, one of the basic tools of learning is to play well together. "Sharing and working together are imperative to establishing good Middos and success," said Morah Rabovsky.
Apples and Honey are always a great away for the younger students to get a taste for the holiday. "They experience the excitement through taste and visual images," said Morah Guttman. EC - 4 made apple collages and prepared an apple bakery where they sampled various colored apples. "It was so sour," said Tali Plotkin. "Taste and role play are just some creative ways for our students to explore the different elements of Rosh Hashanah," said Morah Guttman. |
Elementary Insights

Our third graders have already begun a higher level thinking program as Rabbi Englander introduced independent learning followed by chavrusa learning early on in the year. This new DI (differentiated learning) is part of a school-wide initiative to teach each child according to his and her abilities. "The learning style was great for the students. They were able to acquire the information at their pace and then share it with a peer," said Rabbi Englander. |
