Early Childhood Encounters

The little ones need hugs and love as the enter a new phase of their growth and development," said Morah Hodaya EC-2. Meeting the new children and their parents is always exciting and important as a milestone of the children's development.
Elementary Insights

Rabbi Yachnes kicked off his first week with by sharing the rules of first grade.  The students were eager to sharpen pencils and get to work.  "It is about using the rules throughout the day so the children feel empowered as they learn," said Rabbi Yachnes.

Mrs. Engel's second graders were so happy to take turns reading aloud as they gathered around their teacher for a cozy reading circle. The children enjoyed the casual and comfortable learning environment and Mrs. Engel was able to hear their growing reading skills. "On stage and acting out the characters each child took on a role of either narrator or character," said Mrs. Engel. "I am encouraging them to try new things at their own pace," she added.

Overheard at Torah Academy

"It is so exciting to see all of our new faces joining our Torah Academy family as well as seeing our older students with their eagerness to have a successful year of Torah, learning and growth," said Mrs. Englander.

Car pool time was warm and welcoming for the students and parents as our staff greeters were eagerly on hand to safely deliver our children to their classrooms.

Academic Highlights

Prior to the school year the entire early childhood and elementary staff participated in a variety of enrichment and professional development workshops. The subjects ranged from new approaches at differentiated learning to creating inspiring disciplinary programs within the classroom. Dr. Diane Wander, Ed. D., our General Studies Coordinator, has been working with our Elementary staff on implementing successful differentiated instruction programs in the classroom.

"We are so excited to have Dr. Wander working with us to bring our General Studies program to a whole new level of excellence in so many concrete ways," said Rabbi Baumann.
