Torah Academy Launches a $50,000 Raffle

Every family is quickly becoming a part of our school wide fundraiser. Buy a raffle ticket and you can win a $50,000 grand prize and support Torah Academy at the same time! This raffle is a great way for all of the students and parents to participate in building the school. "There are so many ways to get involved in helping to build our school," said Mrs. Rivka Lindenberg, co-chair with Mrs. Naomi Cohn and Dr. Jorie Lyons.

The raffle ends on June 18th.
Rabbi Yitzchok Elefant, Chief Rabbi of Dimona, Israel, Visits Torah Academy

We were honored to welcome  Rabbi Yitzchok Elefant, Chief Rabbi of Dimona, Israel to our Yeshiva. Rabbi Elefant spoke to the older Talmidim about how their learning and growth in Torah learning is setting the foundation for living a life of Torah for the rest of their lives. We are also grateful to Rabbi Yakov Gibber and Izzy Ashkenazy for facilitating this meaningful visit.

Elementary Insights

Writers are blossoming in first grade. Due to the efforts and creativity of Mrs. Tabor and Mrs. Baumann every first grader has created a story book filled with their ideas, events and memories.  Parents and friends joined the first grade last week as they read their stories and shared their experiences during a program of song, stories, and nosh. "It is so rewarding to see their progress throughout the year," said Mrs, Tabor.

"They are all so proud of their accomplishments," added Mrs. Baumann.
Early Childhood Encounters

Our EC-4 students are looking toward kindergarten with open eyes and growing bodies. As they measure their milestones in speech, language and height, Mrs. Guttman lined up her students and measured their growth with a ruler and success chart. "It is exciting for them to see how much they have grown," said Mrs. Guttman.

"We are always encouraging them to discover their newest accomplishments and preparing them for the next level of education," she added.

Elementary Students Go Ice Skating

Our end-of-the-year field trip and fun day was quite a success. The elementary students all participated in school-wide activities and then bundled up in their winter gear. The students enthusiastically boarded a tour bus to Glacier Ice Skating Rink where they sped through the ice with their teachers and friends. "It was wonderful to see almost everyone participate and have a great time. They didn't worry about how they skated, they just got out there and enjoyed the day," said Mrs. Meth.

Q. What Brocha do I make on chocolate-covered raisins? (Eli Meir Cohen)

A. HA-ETZ. Raisins are dried grapes so they are Ha-etz.
[There's one opinion that says that chocolate should be Ha-etz. In this case, because they're combined and there's a question of Ikar and Tafel (primary or secondary), which is the primary component, we make an Ha-etz on both together.]

Mazel tov to Chaya and Gavi Tabor on the recent birth of their daughter, Elisheva Bracha.

Our condolences to Mr. David More on the recent loss of his father, Yaacov Mouslowi.
