Kesivas Sefer Torah Event

Torah Academy of Boca Raton started under the guidance and direction of Hagaon Harav Henach Leibowitz, zt'l. It was the Rosh HaYeshiva who inspired and gave vision and direction to the founders and leaders of Torah Academy and his inspiration continues to give us the courage to persevere. This past Thursday evening was a Kesivas Sefer Torah Event in the Rosh Yeshiva's memory at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Yehuda Marcus. The event was graced with the presence of one of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim's current Roshei HaYeshiva HaRav Akiva Grunblatt Shlit'a, member of the Rabbinic Administrative Board of Torah Academy of Boca Raton.

The Lag B' Omer Baseball Championship was held at Torah Academy for the fourth and fifth grade boys this past Sunday. The students began the day learning and then put the books away and took their baseball gloves out as they teamed up for a day of baseball, Both Rabbi Guttman and Rabbi Englander lead the boys for a fun-filled morning of pitching, throwing, catching and hitting!

Early Childhood Encounters

Kindergarteners are reading now more than ever! The Early Childhood reading program has started off with a big bang. The Book in a Bag program is a leveled reading program introducing at the earliest levels the sounds of letters with pictures and building and blending words through a more challenging themed book with an emphasis on growing spelling and vocabulary.

"This reading program is terrific. Not only do we have students reading through the pictures and cues but also through building sounds and words on their own," said Mrs. Silver.

Shavuos Publication Coming Soon

The elementary students were excited to learn that they have the opportunity to be part of a special Shavuos Publication. Students are invited and encouraged to pick a Dvar Torah, put it together in written form, and edit it and submit it for publication in a Shavuos Booklet being put together by the Boca Raton Synagogue together with other local schools. Students, parents, and teachers will work together to make this opportunity an amazing learning experience for our students. We would like to thank Dr. Jay Keehn for help coordinating the Shavuos Publication.

Overheard at Torah Academy

Rabbi Ephraim Shapiro spoke at the home of Adina Galbut last Monday night. 45 people attended this event to remember Aliza Rachel Bas Chaim Tzvi, the sister of Tzippy Ringelheim. "It was a way to remember her and to bring people together for words of Torah and an uplifting message," said Mrs. Ringelheim.

Rabbi Shapiro spoke about always seeing good in others and shared stories and thoughts on the upcoming chag of Shavuos. The event was sponsored by the PTO.

Gelato Anyone?

55 students participated in the Hasmoda learning program at Torah Academy. Last Monday they were all rewarded with Gelatos. During Pesach these students took time to continue davening and learning at the highest levels. In fact, 11 students earned a super Gelato party and will receive a sefer for learning 8 hours or more.

Torah Academy would like to express its deepest sympathy to Mr. Elliot Rabinowitz on the loss of his beloved father Irwin (Bob) Rabinowitz.
