Kesivas Sefer Torah Event

Torah Academy of Boca Raton started under the guidance and direction of Hagaon Harav Henach Leibowitz, zt'l. It was the Rosh HaYeshiva who inspired and gave vision and direction to the founders and leaders of Torah Academy and his inspiration continues to give us the courage to persevere. If you have been inspired or have grown in any way as a result of our efforts to teach and spread Torah here in Boca, we want to assure you that all of our accomplishments are a direct result of his teaching and guidance.

Please join in a Kesivas Sefer Torah Event in memory of Hagaon Harav Henach Leibowitz, zt'l at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Yehuda Marcus, 22208 Hollyhock Trail on May 6th at 8:00 PM.   In this way we can together express our appreciation for all that the Rosh HaYeshiva zt'l has done - not only for us here in Boca Raton- but for communities across the country and for the Jewish people.

The event will be graced with the presence of one of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim's current Roshei HaYeshiva HaRav Akiva Grunblatt Shlit'a, member of the Rabbinic Administrative Board of Torah Academy of Boca Raton.

We look forward to greeting you.

Early Childhood Encounters

Jumping and singing their way through stories and song, Mrs. Jennifer Gibber was invited to our EC-3 class to share her dynamic program called, Bugle Babies. This energized way of teaching movement, coordination and self-expression had the children jumping, dancing and having a great time while expressing themselves through rhythm, dance, and creative movement.

"The program can really be benefited by children of all different ages, giving them the opportunity to explore music and dance with their friends at school," said Mrs. Gibber.

Fifth Grade Parents View their Daughters' Makkos Display

This past Wednesday morning, parents of the fifth grade girls were invited to view an amazing collection of projects created to depict the Chumash learned in Mrs. Meth's class. Two of the Parshios studied this year were Va'eira and Bo, which deal extensively with the Makkos, the Ten Plagues.  Before beginning, the girls were given a list of possible creative ways to illustrate their knowledge of each Makkah.  Each girl was required to choose one idea for each Makkah and craft a portrayal of what she had learned.  The projects were expected to include as many specific details as possible.  The parents enjoyed viewing the entire collection of artistic and imaginative representations of Yaeli Ouaknine, Leah Rabovsky, Meira Selig, and Shevy Zak.

The mothers emphasized that the girls were so independent in their work, and took real ownership over their projects and the knowledge they had gained.

First graders crawl through a stomach!

This week, our very excited first graders went on their first field trip with Mrs. Tabor to the Museum of Science in Ft. Lauderdale. The students have been learning all about the five senses and were able to explore first-hand the museum's exhibits. Some highlights of the day were a full size body exhibit - participating in a game show shooting balls into their noses! "The museum's exhibit took learning to a whole new level," said Mrs. Tabor.

"The field trip allowed the students to experience another medium for learning, one without textbooks but actual kinesthetic interactions," she added.

A novel takes flight...

The fifth grade boys took a trip to the Boca Raton Airport a few weeks ago as they embarked on the novel, "Hatchet".  The student's explored several single engine planes and the aviation site. They asked many questions and were encouraged to find connections between the true-to-life field trip and the exciting themes in the novel.

"The planes were so cool and seemed like they could fly really fast," said Yoni Peritzman, as the students watched several planes land and take off while practicing so-called "round abouts".

Shavuos Publication Coming Soon

The elementary students were excited to learn that they have the opportunity to be part of a special Shavuos Publication. Students are invited and encouraged to pick a Dvar Torah, write it up in written form, and edit it and submit it for publication in a Shavuos Booklet being put together by the Boca Raton Synagogue, together with other local schools. Students, parents, and teachers will work together to make this opportunity an amazing learning experience for our students.
