| New Early Childhood Garden at Torah Academy |

Torah Academy welcomed so many guests to participate in our new ECE Garden. Mrs. Ellyn Abiri, marketing manager for the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County, along with her two daughters, joined the children in planting a vegetable and flower garden. The garden project is part of a national effort, called "United We Serve". The day was dedicated to community-wide events and proved to be a wonderful opportunity for Torah Academy to be a part of such a global effort.
"The garden has become more than a way to teach about Tu B' Shvat," said Morah Aliza Askotzky, but it has turned into a true celebration of our community joining together to build something valuable and lasting."
Armed with soil, plants and watering cans, each of the early childhood children will have the opportunity to participate in the growth of our garden. The work that went into the garden before the day began was also imperative. A very special thank you goes to Mr. Mel Askotzky for designing and building the structure and to Morah Choomie for her gardening advice.
We also want to thank the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County for their help with sponsoring the vegetable and flower garden. |

First graders have the spotlight.
Mrs. Tabor's first graders were so excited as they rehearsed all week and then performed their Four Seasons Play for the entire Elementary school on Wednesday at a special family production and then a school-wide assembly. "The students worked so hard and were so excited," said Mrs.Tabor.
Some students were bundled up into winter coats and hats, while others were ready for the beach with towels and sun glasses. All of the students presented their seasons through song and poetry.
"I enjoyed all of the seasons," said Mrs. Miriam Goldberg-Jacobson, grandmother of Adina Goldberg. "It is always a pleasure to come to Torah Academy and see the children shine," she added.
Introducing the assembly was Rabbi Avi Meth who shared a story and words of Torah that inspired the children and staff.
Museum for a day
Mrs. Silver's third graders took the students and their parents on a tour of Native American life at their Museum on Monday. After research, reports, art displays and oral presentations, the students became the school experts on the unique and colorful life of various Native American tribes and their history. The classroom was transformed into a museum as the students presented unique art, historical background and cultural aspects of various tribes.
"The students were so excited about the museum and when all of their parents arrived, they were ready to present all they had learned," said Mrs. Silver. |

| Students' Halacha Corner |
| Q. If I'm eating black olives and green olives which do I make a 'Ha-etz' on and eat first? (Chana Gibber)
A. We make the bracha on the special fruits of Eretz Yisroel first. Here, both are special fruits of Eretz Yisroel! - so we make the bracha first on the complete one. If both are whole, or both are already cut, we make the Bracha on the one you like best. Which one do you like best?
Students are invited to hand in their Halacha questions to Rabbi Baumann. | |
