Torah Academy Welcomes Rabbi Benzion Chait

We were honored to welcome Rabbi Benzion Chait, close friend of Torah Academy and founding Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Toras Chaim in North Miami Beach to our Yeshiva this past week.
PTO Pre-Chanukah Boutique

The PTO hosted a Pre-Chanukah Boutique last Sunday, at the home of Yehudah and Michal Marcus. Vendors such as Lofty Latte, Lillian Roland with fine children's clothing, and toys from A-Z Toys were there to display their products. In addition to the vendors and the opportunity to get a head start on Chanukah shopping, the evening was filled with socializing and words of Torah from Rebbetzin Gita Guttman. "She spoke beautifully and added the spiritual aspect of the night which was so important," said Mrs. Michal Marcus.
The PTO would like to thank the following people for their support and hard work: Chayi Cohen, Naomi Cohn, Amy Horowitz, Sue Kaskel, Rivka Lindenberg, Michal Marcus and a special thank you to Rebbetzin Gita Guttman for her words of Torah.
Torah Academy Artwork was Displayed at the Jewish Federation Women's Division Luncheon
Torah Academy artwork was displayed at the Jewish Federation Women's Division Luncheon last week. Each table was decorated with a themed, original centerpiece, created by our fourth and fifth grade girls.  The girls re-created different holy places throughout the land of Israel. Thank you to Mrs. Henna Englander, Morah Zemira and the girls for working so hard on each centerpiece and truly making Torah Academy shine. The event was an opportunity for author Tova Mordechai to speak about her book and her journey as an Egyptian Jew. "It was a lovely event," said Mrs. Cornelle Selig. "The highlight, of course, was seeing our talented girls' artwork on each table".

Fourth Grade - A special Siyum!
Rabbi Guttman's fourth graders were filling up on Torah and candy as they celebrated their completion of Parshas Vayeshev. "The students are always eager to have a treat. Combining the lesson with the fun is a great way to reinforce their learning and motivate them," said Rabbi Guttman.
"It was fun when we filled our plates with snacks and then learned. I got a lot of answers right," said Yisroel Sugerman.

Mrs. Chaya Tabor and her second graders took a journey into the past as they discovered the similarities between the pilgrim experience and the Jewish experience. The students read Molly's Pilgrim, a story about a young Jewish immigrant who came to America. They built a pilgrim village which was displayed in the hallway for all to enjoy. It was complete with Indians and Pilgrims, teepees and houses.
"The students connected to the story as Jews and the need to keep true to our personal beliefs and history," said Mrs. Tabor.
Early Childhood Encounters

"La La La Cofi... La La La Cofi..."
Mrs. Rabovsky's very special friend and monkey, "Cofi," shared kisses and Brachas with Kindergarten last week as the children completed their Brachas review. They created fruit and vegetable baskets, sang songs to remind them to say their Brachas and finished the week with a Big Bracha Party with eating, singing, and of course, saying their Brachas.
"It is a great way to reinforce their learning," said Mrs. Rabovsky.
