Mayor of Boca Raton Visits Torah Academy
Torah Academy was delighted to have Mayor Susan Whelchel of Boca Raton speak to our students about her life in community service and politics. "I was delighted to visit Torah Academy and was very impressed with the questions the students asked me during my presentation. I wish you much success and continued growth for many years to come," said Mayor Whelchel.
New Torah Academy Website is Live
Torah Academy's new  website is up and running. With the sponsorship of Elliot Allswang, Torah Academy is now able to share our school's mission and its journey of Torah growth and academic excellence to our families and the community at large. We would also like to thank David Spektor of Techlogically Media Productions for doing such a wonderful job designing the website.

Torah Academy Welcomes Leadership of Torah Umesorah

Rabbi Moshe Possick and Rabbi Josh Levy of Torah Umesorah visited our Yeshiva last week.  Torah Umesorah has played a monumental role in building Yeshivos and Jewish Day Schools throughout the country. We look forward to their involvement in Torah Academy and working together in promoting a greater presence of Torah Umesorah in Florida.
Upcoming Events- Margo Allswang Memorial Lecture
The community is gearing up for the kick-off event for the Margo Allswang Memorial Fund.
It will be held on Wednesday, December 9th at Boca Raton Synagogue with Rabbi Rietti as the guest speaker.  The entire community is invited to join together in this evening of memories and inspiration.  The fund is designed to provide additional curricular and extra-curricular programs to the students of Torah Academy, as well as to provide assistance to specific families who wish to provide their children with a well-rounded education within an environment focused on good middos and care for each child.
"As a founding member, Margo was at the forefront of many school programs, and always sought to help the school provide for the needs of each child. I am honored to serve as chairman of this Fund, and will work diligently to ensure that Margo's dream of building the school to increasingly greater levels will be carried out," said Elliot Allswang.
There has been a very strong response to the opportunity to join in the establishment of this Fund.  Torah Academy has set a goal of 100% participation from the TABR community, in the spirit of unity and joining together in honoring Margo's memory in this most fitting manner.

Computer Lab Updated

With the upgrade of our new Computer Lab for grades 1 through 5, dozens of students have enjoyed lessons and hands on experience as Mrs. Henna Englander took them through a step-by-step program of how the computer works. "The Computer Lab is a great addition to a teacher's tool box. Every child learns so differently. This will engage and tap into the creativity of so many of our elementary age children," said Rabbi Feinberg.
"It was so fun, I learned how to type in my name and see the screen change," said Gavy Plotkin, first grader.
Ateres Zakeinim Program Visits Century Village of Boca Raton

The Ateres Zakeinim Program continues with a performance at Congregation Torah Ohr at Century Village in Boca Raton. Over 65 people watched our students sing and dance to Chanukah and Yiddish songs. It was particularly meaningful when towards the end of the performance, the audience joined together with our students in their dancing and singing.
The 'Pupils' Learn About Their 'Pupils' - With Dr. Zev Raden

Teaching the students about the human eye fit in well with Mrs. Silver's third grade unit on physical science. With  special guest lecturer, Dr. Zev Raden, the students were able to get a hands on lesson on caring for their eyes. With a model of the eye and artistic renderings of the eye and its parts, Dr. Raden was impressed at the amount the students knew. "They knew about the pupil and how light and dark environmental changes cause the eye size to change," he said.
"The lesson was fun and engaging for the students," said Mrs. Silver.
Elementary Insights

Rabbi Englander's third grades enjoyed a game of Torah Jeopardy last week as they completed Parshas Chaya Sarah. The students were so excited to play and share the knowledge they acquired. "It was fun and everyone participated," said Rabbi Englander.  The class earned 100 points for their davening, learning and mitzvos.
The party was complete with snacks, drinks and Torah learning. "I had fun and was so excited to see all the treats, and I even got all of the Jeopardy answers right," said Esther Meth, third grade.
Early Childhood Encounters

Last week's Parsha tasted good last week for the EC-3. As they learned about the Parsha, they enjoyed a heaping bowl of "lentil soup." Morah Revi Essebag, who is a firm believer in hands on learning, had the children mixing, chopping and peeling the ingredients. "We were exploring the senses of smell, touch and taste and this was a perfect activity for that," said Morah Revi.
"A lesson such as this is imperative to their feeling of growth and contribution to their learning. As they continue to develop and become more independent, they relate these type of real life activities to growing up," she added.
"Cooking is so fun," said Atara Shochet, as she looked at the peeler and continued, "but, that gives Mommy's hands booboos!"
