Update

It is with great excitement that we finish our second week of school. Our Torah Academy family has grown with the addition of over 50 new students and 20 new families!

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Aliza Askotzky as our new early childhood director. We warmly welcome a number of new staff members: Mrs. Shayndel Plotkin, Mrs. Esther Behar, Mrs. Sharon Barazani, Ms. Sarah Shore, Ms. Lori Emert, Ms. Malka Rabovsky as well as Mrs. Rebecca Hochman and Mrs. Cornelle Selig.
Early Childhood Encounters

Early Childhood Centers are not only 'safe spaces' but teach the children life's lessons. Mrs. Askotzky, Director of the Early Childhood program and her staff have thought long and hard about the value and design of the Centers within each of the classrooms. The centers range from dramatic play center to the writing center, all of which are well- defined spaces where the children can play, create grow and even clean up in a way that teaches them responsibility and ownership. In this print rich, clearly labeled environment we are setting the stage for our students to be learners and explorers for a lifetime.
Elementary Insights
Guttman- Yachnes"When I look up at the board I see that I am very close to getting points and that makes me want to work hard," said Rivka Guttman. Second graders in Rabbi Yachnes' class are eager to earn points and prizes as they become motivated learners. Positive reinforcement is the key said Rabbi Yachnes. The points are given throughout the day for good behavior and class contributions. "Double Points Wednesday is one of the highlights of the week for me and the students," added Rabbi Yachnes.

The fourth and fifth grade girls are illustrators and poets with their first assignment, titled, "Tree House," by Shel Silverstein - They have had a lot of fun exploring their imagination and using writing tools like word clusters and chalk talk to enhance their writing experience.
