Practical solutions - Optimising abilities

Issue No. 3
Greetings!,

The festive season is once again upon us and things at TAD are not winding down but speeding up!

On Saturday we acknowledged the work of our volunteers at a special Christmas lunch. Did you know that this year alone they have contributed around 32,000 hours of work for TADNSW?

A week ago we took part in local celebrations for International Day of People with Disability (Dec 3rd) at Parramatta Mall.

The printers delivered our latest edition of the TADJournal and those who subscribe should already be enjoying their copy, but it is available to browse through online. Alternatively, you can order a copy by calling (02) 9912 3400.

Ten children from the Central West will have a new Freedom Wheels Modified Bike waiting under the Christmas tree in a few weeks time, thanks to a monster effort to get the orders built, checked and delivered on time. You can read more about it below.

This is our final newsletter for 2009, so we wish you all a safe and happy Christmas and look forward to bringing you more news and updates in the New Year!

Enjoy!

Regards,

A TAD of Christmas CheerxmasbikesSanta's helpers at TAD's Northmead workshop have been busy building special bikes for children with disabilities.

Their latest project has been to finish ten Freedom Wheels Modified Bikes, which left the Northmead workshop last Friday bound for the Central West.

Children from Mudgee and Dubbo were individually assessed back in October. The assessment ensures each child receives a bicycle that is perfectly suited to his or her age, height, weight and physical ability.

More bikes will be delivered throughout Sydney in the lead up to Christmas.

IDPwD ParramattaIDPWDTADNSW participated in last Thursday's IDPwD celebrations at Parramatta Council's Expo in the Mall.

TADNSW had a stall amongst it all and offered information about our variety of services throughout the day.

The Freedom Wheels Modified Bike we had on display was definitely an attention grabber, with many stopping to inspect it more closely.

This event truly showcases the vast array of services, associations and community groups working hard for people with disabilities. One of the highlights was watching the Wenty Wheel Kings, wheelchair basketball team race around shooting hoops. Read more.
Thank You Christmas Luncheon
Volunteers
Volunteer Christmas PartyvollunchEach year TADNSW hosts a Christmas luncheon for all the volunteers that help us do what we do. It is a chance for many to catch up face to face and meet with the TADNSW staff members they have been talking to over the phone or via email all year.

Last weekend we held our Christmas Luncheon at our Northmead premises. Almost 90 volunteers came along for an afternoon of food, entertainment and the company of familiar faces. Read more
