Are you as busy in your garden as we are?
The month of May is the busiest month in the garden!  Here at Swan River Gardens we are sending plants out the door faster than ever!  We decided maybe we should take a breath and send you a quick note about what is going on here and what is yet to come!   We wouldn't want you to miss any of the fun!

Plant With the Experts
 experts 1

Did you miss the first Plant With the Experts at Swan River Gardens on May 22nd?  We are sorry to say you missed a great time!  About twenty people brought their containers in and had the help of our great Swan River Gardens greenhouse crew to get their pots planted.  Amid all the plants in all the greenhouses ideas flew around like hummingbirds.  Light refreshments kept everyone nourished and our crews helped participants make some beautiful containers.

You didn't think we wrote this to make you feel bad about missing a good time, did you?  Have no worries, another Plant With the Experts is planned for Thursday, June 10th at 5:30pm.   Bring your containers and we'll supply the soil and fertilizer.  Shop our full greenhouses for whatever plants catch your eye.  And have a Swan River Gardens expert by your side to help you make a container that will be the envy of all who see it while you tell them how you made it yourself!

We love to help our customers use our plants!  Be sure to jot the date June 10th on your calendar and don't miss the fun again!

Huummmmm......Bzzzzzzzzz........

We Hummingbirds are here!!!  Make us some tasty nectar with the following recipe:   Put 8 cups of water in a saucepan with 2 cups of sugar.  Boil the mixture for 7 minutes.  Allow to cool and fill clean feeders.  Store left over in the refrigerator for no longer than one week.  Clean and refill feeders weekly whether or not they are empty.

Then go and see all the great feeders at Swan River Gardens & talk to the experts about plants we hummingbirds like.  They have lots of great ideas!!

Growing....Growing....Growing !!!!

lil sprouts 1The Lil' Sprouts Program is part way through its second season and the little ones are growing right along with the plants!  So far they have made bird feeders, made face pots and learned about vegetable gardening.  The Easter Bunny even made it to one class and helped make leaf print eggs!  In classes still to come, the Sprouts will make bird houses, plant their own containers, learn about wildlife gardens and have a scavenger hunt in the nursery plus many other fun projects.

We really enjoy seeing our little friends and teaching them about the joys of gardening.  Be sure to check out the full schedule on our web site, SwanRiverGardens.com.    Note that this season there are both after school Lil' Sprouts sessions plus Saturday mornings.

Here the Sprouts are busy planting the Swan River Gardens vegetable garden.

Little Sprouts After School Class
This Thursday May 27th at 3:30 after school class

Hammered Leaf Printing
Instructor: Janet Bones-Swan River School Garden Enthusiast

They Say "Bringing The Outdoors In" is good for the sole. That is our plan for this class. This class project dates back to the ancient Japanese and American Indians. In this class, the Lil' Sprouts are going to use the natural dyes found in leaves and flowers to make botanical imprinted wall hanging. Get Out The Hammer, it's time for the Lil' Sprouts to hammer out some color! Ahh, the beauty of brute force.
(snacks and refreshments will be provided)
