UNH Updates
August 10, 2011 Edition

Hello UNH Parents!

It's hard to believe but it's just more than 2 weeks before the start of the Fall Semester! Move in day for incoming freshmen is Friday, Aug. 26th! Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors will be moving in during that weekend. Classes for all begin on Monday, Aug. 29th!

Much work has been undertaken this summer at UNH - the new Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics building has been progressing all summer (watch the video of old building demolition), there's a new plaza and flag pole in front of Thompson Hall (see the photo at the top of the newsletter), Stillings dining hall has been renovated and the sidewalks between Thompson Hall and Ham. Smith have been redone - to mention but a few of the construction projects that are going on around campus. If you don't get a chance to see these changes during Move-In Weekend - hopefully you will see them when you come back for Family Weekend - Sept. 30 - Oct. 2 or during Homecoming Oct. 28-30.

2011 Family Weekend Events

The Family Weekend list of events and activities is up on our website - http://www.unh.edu/parents/family-weekend.  Check it out - we have a great list of activities going on which we will continue to add to so you might want to bookmark this site!

New for 2011 - to date the only activities that require tickets are the Saturday Picnic - the Football and Hockey games - Movies, and the meals at the Dining Halls - these events have been marked with the symbol - $. And the Saturday Picnic is now only $5.00 per person, tickets only sold at the picnic. The rest of the activities are free!

Take the Family Weekend Survey and help your students' dorm!

Taking the Family Weekend Survey could help your students' dorm to get a donation for their activity fund! All parents participating in the survey at Family Weekend (Oct. 1 & 2) will have the opportunity to indicate which dorm their student lives in (or indicate if their students are commuters).  The dorm or commuters with the largest number of visiting parents taking the survey will entitle that group to a $250 donation to their activity fund from the UNH Parents Association.  Survey locations during the weekend are marked on the events list with this tag: SURVEY SITE.

Campus Map - There's an app for that!

There is a new Campus Map App.! The UNH campus map application helps users get directions from and to any location on campus; identify and locate UNH buildings and landmarks; learn history and discover statistics about UNH; and access a vast amount of information including parking, ATM and dining locations. The UNH Campus Map App can be uploaded for free via the app store on your device. The application is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. (Requires iOS 3.2 or later). It's free and can be downloaded via the iTunes Store.
