Greetings!
PictureOfDonEarthquakes, tsunamis, wars, nuclear disasters, high unemployment, gasoline through the roof; it's almost enough to make you discouraged.  A verse from the Bible comes to mind at these times.  It says "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."  We can choose to dwell on the discouragements or we can dwell on our blessings.  The choice is ours.
Everybody needs encouragement.  Consider this yours for today, and pass it on.

Have a great week.

Definition - Roll Wrapper

Nonwoven rolls2
Many nonwoven companies protect their finished rolls of fabric by wrapping them with stretch wrap film.  Of course the low tech method is to take a hand held roll of stretch film and run around the roll of nonwoven until it is wrapped and/or you are very dizzy.  If you have deep pockets, you can buy a completely automated system.  Most companies are somewhere in between.  The definition this week will help a new employee to at least understand what a roll wrapper does.

FeltLOOM

FeltLOOM
This is something interesting I stumbled across.  Some farmers in Kentucky are making and selling needlelooms for the small producer of hand crafted  fabrics.  Please watch the video as the lady explains what it is all about.  I have not inquired as to the price of this equipment.  One thought I had - could this be an inexpensive way to get a needloom for your lab?

mstinternational

AsslinBoards
I had an interesting meeting a week ago with Peter Neudorfer with mstinternational.  From what I understand, this company has been manufacturing needleboards for many years.  Peter said they have a good business in Europe and are interested in marketing their products in the United States.  They also sell bed and stripper plates and velour brush segments.  They have a computer simulation program that recommends needle patterns for various types of products.  In a few weeks they hope to have their web site operational which will be www.needleboards.com.  If you are interested in learning more, contact me and I will put you in touch.

There's An App For That

Threce-LINQIt was only a matter of time before nonwoven companies began creating apps for iPhones, IPads, Blackberrys, and Android phones.

Thrace-LINQ, a supplier of woven and nonwoven geosynthetic technical fabrics, announces the release of the Thrace-LINQ Product Finder™ mobile application for BlackBerry®, Android™, and Apple® mobile devices. Within seconds, the Thrace-LINQ Product Finder helps users identify geosynthetic products that meet specific project needs.

This announcement comes from the floor of the Geo-Frontiers 2011 trade show, taking place from March 13 to 16 in Dallas. Thrace-LINQ will be exhibiting from booth 600, where company representatives will demonstrate the mobile app and offer assistance in selecting the right technical fabrics.

Khan Academy

KhanAcademyLogoLast year I mentioned the Khan Academy in an article I wrote about helping production employees improve their math skills.  Recently I came across a video on the TED website in which Salman Khan provides an update of the work he is doing.  This is mind-boggling when you consider the millions of views his teaching videos have received in a very short time, and it all started with him tutoring a relative.  Why not introduce some of you people to this resource and help them learn math.

Thanks for supporting Nonwoven Tools LLC.  Don't forget about our other company Omega Engineered Technologies LLC that does needling and needle board repair.

Sincerely,
