Greetings!
PictureOfDonA few days ago I received an e-mail from Jean-Noel Cozon anouncing that a new book has just been published.  I ordered mine right away, and I will review the book in this newsletter in the next issue.  See the article with the announcement below.

I followed several trails through the internet this week dealing with fiber.  The articles are below. I trust you will learn something as I did.

Have a great week.

International Fiber Journal

IntFibJournal
On Saturday I was reading the latest issue of the International Fiber Journal and I was struck by the depth and quality of several of the articles.  This issue has some of the best information I have seen about sustainable raw materials for fibers.  The charts, graphs, and photographs do a great job of illustrating the content in the articles.

I believe this magazine used to be free, but now it is on a subscription basis.  You can subscribe here.  You can receive it via email at a lower cost than the print version.

You can get a good feel for content by going to the back issues page and click on the "in this issue" link for the various months.  They provide a very complete listing for each issue.  If you want to download a single issue you can do that here for eight dollars a copy.

This magazine is a valuable source of information for training your employees about fiber.  They also have many good news articles related to the nonwovens industry.

I came across another great resource about fiber and it is free.  This is a 109 page pdf file about man-made fibers.  I have downloaded it to my web.  This contains some wonderful depictions of how various types of fiber are made.  It also has some good photo micro-graphs and a glossary.  Some areas of the booklet are very technical, but others areas provide information suitable for production floor employees.  This booklet is a gem.  Check it out here.  I am also including a link to the BISFA web site.

Weekly Definition - Steam Boiler

SeamBoiler
Many nonwoven plants have a boiler to generate steam for area heating or for process applications.  A production employee at least needs to know what a boiler is if for no other reason than to know he should stay away from it if he has not been trained how to operate it.

New Book About Nonwovens

"Dear Industry COLLEAGUE and Member of the Nonwoven Industry.

In collaboration with my colleague Jean-René Wattel, we have just finished and have started publishing a short technical paperback, in both an English and a French edition, which is devoted to the nonwovens industry in which we worked for the last 25 years.

This book is likely to be of interest for those who are considering, or leaning towards a technical career. It will allow the reader to more readily understand many of the general concepts of "nonwovens", of fabrics which can be quite complex but are also integral parts of our modern life. It has been put together using common words and phrases which should be understandable even to non-experts, without the need to go into either too much detail of every key concept used in making the products, or every last feature of the technologies used to produce these fabrics.

In the attachments, you can see the:
-          Table of contents
-          Front cover
-          Back cover

The book comprises 288 pages; it is illustrated with 156 photos, 56 tables and 16 diagrams. It also contains a technical word dictionary comprising 337 word references or expressions in 5 languages. All information contained in this book was accurate at time of printing and can be independently verified.

We are now publishing the English language paper edition.
The price of each book is US$ 49.95, which includes the printed book, plus packing and shipping cost in North America.

To place an order, please send cheque for the amount of your order to my postal address: Jean-Noel Cozon, 9612 Donna Ve Lane, Charlotte, NC-28277.

When the cheque is received, we will mail out the book(s) you have ordered together with an official invoice/receipt.

Yours Sincerely,

Jean-Noel Cozon                       and                       Jean-Rene Wattel
