Greetings!
Don1
It appears that the long, hot summer is finally coming to an end.  Thankfully we had enough rain so the vegetation was not scorched.  I always look forward to fall because the change in the weather usually causes me to reevaluate my life and work.  It is a time when I search for new ideas and determine to better myself.  I hope you occasionally evaluate yourself and determine areas for growth.

I just received my Amazon Kindle and it is a winner.  It is just the right size and very easy to read.  I have already started to download some of my weekly definitions to it.  I am evaluating it as to how it could best be used for training purposes. If you have experience with similar devices that could be used for training, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Have a great week!

Bekaert's SiroLock Wire
SiroLock Wire
Mind your step - nonwovens manufacturers testify to improved fibre control with Bekaert's SiroLock worker and doffer wire

Here is an article from RDM's blog about the new wire that Bekaert has developed.

Bekaert is continuously investing in new technologies and one of its latest developments for the textile industry is the SiroLock doffer and worker wire for nonwoven and long staple roller cards.
This highly efficient card wire is provided with a unique step - as shown on the left - which brings fibre control to a whole new level, improving both web quality and the productivity of the cards.
The concept of the SiroLock wire was developed by Ken Atkinson of The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation of Australia (CSIRO) and executed by the technical team of Bekaert.  Click here to go to the RDM blog and read the rest of the article.

Here is the link to Bekaert's web site and more discussion about SiroLock wire.

Holding a Web Conference
WebConf
Have you ever considered holding a web conference?  If you want to get a message across to a select group, a web conference is the way to do it.  We often are asked to participate in a web conference by someone trying to sell us something, but a web conference could just as easily be a group of people within the same company meeting from plants scattered around the world.  It is also a good method for delivering training.  It is not that difficult to have a web conference.  Here is a link to some great information that can get you started.

dimdim Web Conferencing Software
dimdim
Since I am encouraging you this week to hold web conferences, I though I would guide you to some great software.  dimdim starts out free for 10 users and ratchets up to $33 a month for 100 users.  That's not bad.  To be able to meet with 100 people and get an important message across for only 33 cents per person per month is very good.  They recently made some improvements and have come out with version 6.0.  Please check this out and consider how you could use this to to further your business and improve your training.
Weekly Definition - Slatted Apron
SpikeApronIf you have worked in nonwovens for many years, you should be familiar with slatted aprons like the ones in the pictures.  The newer equipment uses PVC and other types of aprons, but many of the old style slatted aprons are still in use.  This week's definition will give your employees some knowledge of these aprons.  I'll talk about other types of aprons in an upcoming definition.
