Can You Help With Carding 101?
Term Definition - Fiber Fan

Greetings!
Don1
Thanks so much to those of you that responded to my request for input last week.  Your kind words were appreciated.

This week I found a great animation at the Rando web site.  I also ask for your input on Carding 101.  Lastly, the definition for the week is - Fiber Fan.

I love it when I can solve a problem and help someone.  A customer approached my needleboard company, Omega Engineered Technologies, about repairing some worn out Dilo boards.  I had not done it before but we gave it a try.  To see the results, click here.  They are the top pictures as you scroll down the page.  If you have similar boards that are worn, contact my sales agent, Rick Childress, at the Louis Batson Company at 864 242-5262.

Have a great week.

The Rando Web Site
Rando
I am constantly surfing the internet looking for content for this newsletter.  This week I came across a great animation on the Rando web site.  This shows the kind of animation that can provide good understanding of how fiber moves through a machine.  The animation is simple, yet it provides a level of understand that any production worker can comprehend.  Good work Rando!

Can You Help With Carding 101?
WebInCard
have been working for some time on a script for a video training series titled Carding 101.  I envision 14 modules of about 20 minutes each.  I know there are a few of you that must have some things you would like to see included. I value your input and frankly without some constructive criticism I will probably leave some things out that should be included.  I plan to market the videos on a subscription basis over the internet.  For anyone that is passionate about training and would like to help, I would be willing to provide some free training to your company.  I am looking for still pictures and videos of roller top cards.  I would be glad to come to your plant to take the pictures if it is within driving distance of Greenville, SC.

For those of you that read this and that are card manufacturers, I would like to include pictures of your roller top cards.  Please contact me. Thanks

Here are the titles.
1.  Introduction to roller top cards
2.  Names and functions of the rolls
3.  Card wire

Term Definition - Fiber Fan
FiberFan
When I first got into nonwovens it did not make sense to me that fiber could go through a fan.  I was certain that it would clog the fan.  This week's definition helps to clarify how a fiber fan works.
