Greetings!
PictureOfDon
My  wife, son and daughter-in-law, their four young children and I had the privilege of traveling through 2000 miles of the US southwest over the last two weeks.  Pictures certainly do not do justice to the magnificent sights.  The picture above is one I took of the falls in Yosemite National Park.  The snow pack this winter was double the normal, so the falls fueled by melting snow were spectacular.

Canyon
The Grand Canyon takes your breath away!  We were able to reserve lodging in the park and stayed about 400 meters from the rim of the canyon.  The weather was great, beautiful sunshine, 32 degrees F at night and 80 degrees F during the day.

I must admit I did not think about nonwovens during the trip.  Seeing this type of scenery has a way of putting things in perspective.  It makes you realize how little and insignificant you are.

Well, back to work helping people learn about nonwovens one newsletter at a time.

FiberYear
The definitive survey of the fiber industry has been published.  To read this in its entirity is nothing short of an education on the fiber industry world wide.  They really do a great job.  If you want to know just about nonwovens, that section is located near the end of the report.  Here is the link to the pdf.

Indian Textile

I would like to introduce you to an on-line magazine that you probably have never read.  It is called the Indian Textile Journal.  I came across it doing a Google search about flash spinning.  I am impressed by the depth of some of the articles.  They are very detailed and written by professors.  The article on Microfiber nonwoven and medical applications  had a bibliography of 28 references.  I was impressed.  Here is their home page.  Here is the page related to nonwovens.

dmoz, Open Directory Project
IndianTextileThe purpose of the Open Directory Project is to list and categorize web sites.  It is 100% free and open source.  There is no paid staff and it depends on the efforts of thousand of volunteers to continue to build it.  Currently there are over 4.5 million web sites in 590,000 categories.  There are over 85,000 editors cataloging the data.  Review the about page to get an idea of how it all works.
The home page is deceptively simple, however you need to remember that you are at the top of a huge pyramid of information.  Start by clicking on a subject and you will quickly see that you can drill down to your area of interest.  Here is the link to the section about nonwovens.  As I am writing this, there are 1273 web sites related to nonwovens.  If you do not find your web site listed, you can submit it for listing.  Have fun using this valuable tool.
