Greetings!
PictureOfDon
Do you recall what life was like before the internet?  I used to have multiple shelves of catalogs in my office so I could find parts.  Even with the catalogs it often took days to find a price and delivery date for a part.  Now most companies have everything online and in just a few minutes you can have a part on the way.  E-mail will keep you informed of its shipping status.

Google, Yahoo, and Bing have enabled us to find relevant information about almost anything.  But have you though about how good those search engines really are?  You know they make money by selling those top spots in their lists.

What if there was a search engine that was organized by thousands of people knowledgeable in their respective fields?
In the article below you can learn about the dmoz, open directory project that empowers experts to recommend information that is truly relevant. I'll lead you to the nonwovens section of the dmoz and you can see for yourself.

My wife and I are taking some time off for an extended vacation this summer.  The updates will return in three weeks.

dmoz, Open Directory Project
IndianTextileThe purpose of the Open Directory Project is to list and categorize web sites.  It is 100% free and open source.  There is no paid staff and it depends on the efforts of thousand of volunteers to continue to build it.  Currently there are over 4.5 million web sites in 590,000 categories.  There are over 85,000 editors cataloging the data.  Review the about page to get an idea of how it all works.
The home page is deceptively simple, however you need to remember that you are at the top of a huge pyramid of information.  Start by clicking on a subject and you will quickly see that you can drill down to your area of interest.  Here is the link to the section about nonwovens.  As I am writing this, there are 1273 web sites related to nonwovens.  If you do not find your web site listed, you can submit it for listing.  Have fun using this valuable tool.

Indian Textile

I would like to introduce you to an on-line magazine that you probably have never read.  It is called the Indian Textile Journal.  I came across it doing a Google search about flash spinning.  I am impressed by the depth of some of the articles.  They are very detailed and written by professors.  The article on Microfiber nonwoven and medical applications  had a bibliography of 28 references.  I was impressed.  Here is their home page.  Here is the page related to nonwovens.
