Training That Works
What About the iPad?

Greetings!
PictureOfDonI don't know about you, but I really appeciate a vendor taking time to put valuable information on their web site.  I came across two this week.

Dusenbery is an old name in the slitting industry.  They are a member of Parkinson Technologies.  This link will take you to information they have made available about slitting and winding.

Maxcess is the parent company of Fife, Magpower, and Tidland.  These people really understand the importance of training.  They have a separate web site called Maxcess University that is a great example of how equipment companies should use the web to provide training for their customers and the general industry.  Spend some time at their university, visit the library, and see what I mean.

By the way, if you are a machinery provider and are interested in providing training resources on your web site, Nonwoven Tools can help you with that.

Have a great week.

Term Definition - Balefeed
BalefeedThose of you who use staple fiber to manufacture your nonwovens probably have some type of bale feed in your operation.  This week's definition describes this basic piece of nonwoven fiber opening equipment.

                              This week's definition

I always recommend that you print the weekly definition on a color printer and place it on the tables in your canteen.  Here is a link to an inexpensive plastic stand that will protect the page from food spills and make it easy to read.
Training That Works
Style

Some things are fundamental to the work we do.  With respect to those of us who use words on paper, computers, e-mail, or whatever; we need to do it right.  To do that you need to have a good writing reference.  One of the best is The Elements of Style.  If you do not have it just get it.  The book is quite short which improves its usefulness since most of us want quick answers.  A good used copy only costs a few bucks.
What About the iPad?
iPad
You would have to be living under a rock to not know that last week Apple launched the iPad.   Go to the Apple site and look at the video.

Is this device going to be the killer product that it is hyped to be?  I do not know, but I do know it comes closer than anything else.  I am getting one when they are available.

This article does a good job of explaining my thoughts about the iPad.
