Greetings!
PictureOfDon
Last week I asked if anyone had any training they would like me to address.  One of you that got back to me requested that it would be  helpful if I would include problem solving.  We all have problems running nonwoven plants and it would be great to learn from others.  This will be a major undertaking for me.  I see two ways to address this: 1. Ask you to submit problems and I work to solve them and post answers on my web site.  2. Start a discussion forum and enable you to help each other solve problems.  The latter would be easier for me, but would enough people participate to make it useful?  I guess it comes down to how can I get people interested in helping each other.
The nonwoven community is not that big.  There will never be thousands who would participate.  However, I think we could do a lot if we could get 500 people actively helping each other to solve problems.  How do we do that?  Each of you will need to find people in your company with enough vision to see what could be done if we work together.  Can you recruit someone to help?  Start by getting your friends and coworkers to click on the "join our mailing list button".  If I see some interest I will do my best to undertake this project.

Definition for the Week

A concept that many production floor workers do not understand is "draft."  They probably understand that the material has to be pulled through the machine and this pulling stretches the material.  However, they probably do not understand the math.  I hope the definition this week gives them not only understanding, but a picture they can keep in their minds.
