Youth Pottery
This is a class designed for youth who want to experience clay, try out the potters wheel, and learn to expressthemselves creatively. We will explore a variety of ceramic techniques including coil building, slabs, built pieces and working with molds. Students will learn glaze techniques and be introduced to firing. Class will meet at the flagpoleoutside Fraser Valley Elementary school and walk over to Pottery Room.  Please pack an extra snack!

Adult Pottery
Build and renew your flair for clay whether you're a beginner or have lots of experience. This class provides a variety of pottery experience and encourages you to develop your creativity.  Throw on the wheel and use various hand, glazing & decorative techniques.  Youth 12+ are welcome to attend with an adult.

Winter Beading with Heidi has been moved from Mondays to Wednesdays and will now run 2/1 - 2/15 and will be in the South Classroom at the GPCRC

Beading with Heidi
Come Bead with Heidi McNinch of Heidi's Beadworks and learn the basics of beading.  Each week you will complete a unique project.  The fee includes all materials.  This class is designed for independent and detail-oriented youth.  ADULTS WELCOME

Rockclimbing 101

Basic rockclimbing skills taught to 6-10 year olds.  We will teach correctly putting on a harness, standard figure eight knot with safety backup, belaying techniques, and moving over vertical terrain.  Our emphasis will be safety, proper respect for potential dangers and most importantly to have fun.  This class is geared toward youngsters who have a desire to be exposed to the climbing world.  

Tuesdays in February from 4-5pm

Parent & Tot Swim Lessons 

This class is perfect for children who are too young to start Preschool swim lessons but are ready to get in the water and learn.  Parents will be in the water with their child the entire time.  Toddlers will practice kicks, putting their face in the water, breath control, and floats.  All skills will be performed with the assistance of the parent.  Families with multiples, please note that an adult must accompany each child.  Swim diapers must be worn in the pool by all children 3 and younger.

Stroke Clinics
Join Peak Swim Team Coach, Audrey Walker, after school on Thursdays and improve your swim strokes.  This is a great way to improve your swimming and to prepare for 2012 Peak Swim Team! Each session will include stroke analysis, drills & games.  Participants must be able to swim one length of freestyle with rhythmic breathing, unassisted and continuously.  Each session will include stroke analysis, drills & games. Feb. 11 - Hill Climb Classic

(4 -7 p.m., Winter Park Resort)

 This is a tough hill climb from the base of Winter Park Resort to The Lodge at Sunspot at the top of the mountain. The payoff is worth it - not only do snowshoers get a sense of accomplishment, they will also be rewarded with a chili dinner and a party at the lodge. Plus, the panoramic views of the Continental Divide are well worth the effort!

 

April 7 - Adventure Snowshoe Race

Part obstacle course, part snowshoe race, this event will challenge even the most warrior-minded individuals. After completing the course, everyone 'wins' with a huge bonfire, music and adult beverages to celebrate.
