STEP ONE : KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT AND
POOL TRAINING
A. KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT
The Knowledge Development
portion of Step 1 (PADI online learning) develops your familiarity with basic
principles and procedures. You'll learn things like; how pressure affects your
body, how to choose the best gear and what to consider when planning dives.
You'll complete the PADI online component and bring all of your paperwork with
you to the first session.
ENHANCEMENT KIT This is intended for those completing the online
eLearning.
It contains (1) How to Use and Choose Dive Computers Manual,
(1) Log Book and (1)
Student Folder. The cost is $51 plus tax.
B. CONFINED WATER DIVES
This is what it's all about -
diving. During this portion of Step 1 you'll develop basic scuba skills in the
Fraser Valley Recreation Center swimming pool. You'll learn how to set up your
diving gear and practice some practical skills such as, clearing your mask of
water, hovering and sharing air. You'll also do somersaults, hand-stands, make
new friends and have fun playing underwater.
C. COURSE FEE
The fee for the pool training is
$255 and includes:
- All classroom instruction
- All pool instruction at the Fraser Valley
Recreation Center pool
- Use of all Scuba Equipment
- NO
EQUIPMENT PURCHASE IS NECESSARY, although we highly recommend
your own mask, fins, snorkel and booties.
D. REQUIRED FORMS (I've
attached all of these Joan)
STEP TWO: OPEN WATER DIVES
Here's your chance to show off! After you complete Step One you, and the new friends
you've made, continue your learning during four open water dives. This is where
you have fun putting it all together and fully experience the underwater
adventure. You'll repeat many of the same skills you learned in our swimming
pool, only this time they'll be performed in the open water.
Because your pool skills have been mastered and the
academic material is fresh in your mind, we recommend that you complete your
open water training dives soon after completing your last pool session.
There are several option for completing Step Two
including:
Completing them on one of our scheduled
weekends in Denver (through the fall), at the Homestead Crater in Utah starting
in the late fall or at the Blue Hole in New Mexico at various time
On a group trip with A-1
Taking a Referral to a dive store in the
islands
Please note: There is a
separate fee for your Open Water Training dives. The fee depends on which
option you choose.
