2012 Model Exhibit - Grand Opening Event!

Where: Suyama Peterson Deguchi, 2324 2nd. Ave., Seattle, WA
Join us to celebrate the launch of this year's exhibit with a special opening night. Meet the architects and designers behind the models, mingle with colleagues, and bid on a unique selection of architecturally inspired items and activities. All proceeds from this event will support SAF's programs which connect people to the architecture, design, and history of Seattle. Purchase tickets here through September 5th.

SAF is excited to launch the Fall Design in Depth lecture series: Developing Community Through Design!
Communities are impacted by developments in and around them. Topics for this series include co-housing, the workplace, pocket parks, and restaurants.

Celebrate the past and design the future at our new design competition and workshop! Entrants of all ages (elementary, middle and high-school) and skill levels are welcome. Each workshop is a separate event, participants can attend one event to complete the experience, build their model and be part of the design competition! InbeTWEEN Event: Solving Social Issues Through DesignDate: Friday August 24th, 2012 Time: 5:30-9:30pm Location: This event will meet at the SAF Offices. Ages: 11-16 years old. Upcoming theme: Adaptive Re-Use. This program is supported in part by a grant from the City of Seattle's Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs. Modern Home Tour - Special Offer for SAF Subscribers
"Modern Home Tours" makes its first visit to Seattle on Saturday, September 22. The self-guided driving tour offers visitors the opportunity to explore the inside and outside of some of Seattle's coolest examples of modern architecture and interior design. The Structural Engineers Foundation of Washington
Annual Forum: Creating the Language of Architecture
October 11, 2012 at 6 pm , Benaroya Recital Hall
Bill Baker, P.E., S.E., Partner-in Charge of Structural Engineering at Skidmore Owings and Merrill in Chicago will present a lecture that challenges aspects of modern architecture. Baker's most recent high-profile work is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The lecture will be of interest to all design collaborators. Admission is free, but registration is required.
