PLUS, don't forget that this year SAF and MOHAI are partnering with the Seattle Center Foundation to bring you a great historical and architectural walking tour of the Seattle Center. Make your reservations through MOHAI, today, because these tours are selling out!

 

The Century 21 tour was developed as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Seattle's 1962 World's Fair.  It's only $5 per person so make your plans and get registered soon; it's bound to be popular.

The Coolest Competition

SAF's new ARC.I.TEX program for ages 7 to 18 makes you wish you were in school again.

 

ARC.I.TEK.

When: June 16, 11am - 3pm

Where: The Digital Classroom located on the second floor of the Intiman Playhouse at Seattle Center.

Cost: $20 per entry. Scholarships available upon request. Register online.

 

The purpose of ARC.I.TEK is to engage and guide young Seattle citizens, grades one through twelve, in learning the process of architecture and design, developing their skill sets and assisting them to shape their vision of the future, ultimately empowering them to make a difference in Seattle.  For the participants, it's a wonderful opportunity to HAVE FUN as they envision a 2062 Seattle World's Fair.

 

This is a competition. Entrants, ages 7 thru 18, will arrive at Seattle Center's Next Fifty Digital Classroom in the Intiman Playhouse on the second floor to attend a 4 hour workshop lead by industry design professionals. A brief review of the history and legacy of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair and Seattle Center will be covered, followed by a 3 hour design session for Seattle's young citizens to build architectural concept models as entries for their vision of a world's fair in 2062. Winners and prizes will be awarded in three age categories on October 21. Visit the Seattle Architecture Foundation website for more information.

Never fear, SAF's 15th model exhibit will take place.  It just won't happen in June this year.  The exhibit will take place during the Design Festival in September.

Historic Seattle is pleased to offer three guided walking tours of the First Hill neighborhood this spring and summer, repeating the success of last year's tours with the support of our partners, the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation, Frye Art Museum, Sorrento Hotel, and St. James Cathedral.  We appreciate your help in informing the community about this entertaining and informative exploration of one of Seattle's oldest neighborhoods and one still rich with architectural landmarks.
